? What They Copied: The entire structure of the classic chicken-finger meal

So the hundreds of thousands of places serving a burger, fries and drink intentionally copied from each other?

How are there enough chicken tenderloins to keep all of these places in business? I keep hearing that US poultry numbers are down because of the flocks being culled due to bird flu. If every chicken only has two tenderloins, where are they coming from? Canes, Huey Magoo's, Guthrie's, Zaxby's, Foosackly's, Chick-fil-A. Not to mention places like Chill's, Applebee's, etc. and the ones packaged for sale in grocery stores.

Every chicken only has 2 tenderloins. You are eating chicken breast strips, which are just sliced chicken breasts.

ETA: it's still amazing to think about how many chickens are required to fill the demand.

I kind of like that Guthries couldn't be bothered to compete with the two blatant imitators who've created a billion+ cap off their chicken finger formula

Guthries is just happy to be here

This thread made me order Guthrie's for the first time ever for lunch today.
5'2 463lbs
Had the big box

Blows Zaxby's salty mess out of the water.
Only had Caine's once on the way back from NOLA so don't really remember much about it. Luckily there is one opening 10 minutes from the house by the end of the year so I'll be able to compare soon.
Zaxby's is absolute trash.

the last Guthries I had was awful ca. 2008. Was sharing space with convenience store and I was in a hurry at lunch. tough, overcooked, breaded in straight salt. waste of money. not what I remembered from college days early 80's

I made that mistake once at Popeyes. the owner of our local store ( red dot Indian) was in an informal adult tennis league I was a part of. he invited all of us to eat afterward one night. (dutch treat)

I ordered the chicken strips. after gnawing on them for a while, I figured out the issue. a "strip" is not a "tender"
