If you remember he was the 34 year old reporter apparently in good health who passed after developing pneumonia. Was maybe diagnosed with an extremely rare disease then died suddenly.

NBC Aschoff passes with HLH

An aggressive form of cancer was discovered shortly after ESPN reporter Edward Aschoff died on Christmas Eve, his fiancee revealed Wednesday, clearing up part of the mystery of why a seemingly healthy young man died on his 34th birthday.

quote:

“Unbeknownst to us, Edward had stage 4, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in his lungs,” she wrote in what she said would be the last message from Aschoff’s Twitter account. “This is an aggressive type of cancer that is usually undetectable until it is very advanced.”

Damn. So I had a virus for two weeks. Fever and cough and the doctors think it turned into this multifocal pneumonia recently. I’m on day 4 of antibiotics. Days are getting better but nights are basically fever and coughing and sweating. How long were you out for?

Sounds like it may have been corona. But I thought I read he had some underlying condition.

Edit: yep, lymphoma.

Did anybody pick up the last line of the article that 250,000 people are hospitalized and 50,000 people die each year from pneumonia in the US? I hadn’t comprehended that stat
