BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - According to a press release from DiamondJacks Casino and Hotel, they announced Friday, May 15, they would not be reopening until further notice.

Here is a statement from Vice President Diana Thornton:

“In light of the sudden, unforeseeable market conditions that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, the difficult decision has been made to close the casino,” said Diana Thornton, Vice President of Finance at DiamondJacks. “We have worked diligently to be a valued member of the Shreveport-Bossier City business community. We are saddened for the loss of a longtime business here in Louisiana.”

Employees have been contacted about the closure. The property will still be maintained, but there are no plans in place for the future.

“Even though continuing to operate is not viable from a business standpoint, we have certainly enjoyed being a part of the community and appreciate the loyalty of both guests and team members,” said Thornton. “We are thankful for the support everyone has provided us and will do what we can to ensure those impacted transition to new career opportunities.”

But forget how many lives are now upended because their jobs aren't coming back. At least we potentially saved a few nursing home residents.

Kinda a shitty way to look at it as those people have been forced to stay in small rooms like they are in prison

Yeah, this entire thing is BS but fault the greedy arse hospitals that don’t have proper stock piles of supplies or state agencies that don’t have proper procedures in place or the shitty arse Gov

JBE is following orders from trumps administration almost to a tee, right?

regardless, i think both parties are fricking us over, its about time more people realize that instead of thinking the conservatives have our best interests in mind with this crap. they clearly do not

There are going to be a LOT of businesses that are going to announce they won't re-open. And when you dig deeper, you will find that they were in horrific shape before this crisis started. This just put them over the edge, and allows the companies to blame the crisis instead of their own problems.

I can't believe one of the downtown BR casinos hasn't folded yet. They were struggling already for years since L'auberge opened.

This argument isn’t old yet?

No is my easy answer, trump has 14 days between phases
JBE has 21

JBE is using data manipulation with back logs of tests & not separating nursing home & prison cases to extend or we could have opened earlier following WH guidelines

This is 100% on JBE & LDH

Bossier City casino closes down and the Shreveport Mayor catches blame???

Not saying hes a good mayor, but the casino has nothing to do with him.

DiamondJacks wasn't long for it before this happened.

The closures just went ahead and put it down. The others will probably be alright.

obviously shreveport is the biggest city in the region, bossier is less than half the size. I am talking about the economic future for the area, not just the casino closing
