Is there anywhere local (Baton Rouge) that repairs dewalt tools?

Did you check the brushes?
Posted on 10/24/21 at 5:59 pm to LegendInMyMind
No …previous history with brush issues the motor would engage
This was make a cut and then next cut nothing
Cut light/laser comes on and it clicks but motor does nothing

It’s call shell out the money for a new one.

I called a couple places on mine. Said it’s cheaper to buy a new one than get it fixed

It is and quit buying Dewalt. Dewalt has been junk for years now but it has the name so people still shell out money for it. Same with Milwaukee and their bulky crap.
Makita, Bosch, Metabo, and of course Delta are all better
Even the Rigid saw is better because it is made by Delta for Home Depot
The Delta Cruzer has nearly an 18" cut capacity which is 3" more than the average 12" saw. If I were in the market I could consider it or the Makita LS1219L. Both take up less space than a normal slider so you can push them right up against a wall and have a larger cross-cut capacity than average.
ETA: Yes I know Delta and Dewalt are both owned by Black and Decker but Delta is still a better product

I forgot about the Festool. Good choice too

Damn I figured a repair would be cheaper than another $800 saw but

The Germans can engineer the shite out of stuff.

I've had the 10" compound miter saw that I've used for 12+ years and the 13" DW735 planer that I've absolutely beat the shite out of for longer than the saw. That planer is consistently ranked the best of planers in its class, and it isn't even close.
There's not much difference in brands at that level.

Depends on what is wrong with it but they aren't $800 anymore. I bought one 15 years ago and it was around that but now they are $400 for a 12" slider

Replace the flux capacitor with ball bearings. It's all ball bearings these days.

I disagree. Walk into a production shop and you will see stuff like Jet, Delta, Festool, etc. You will not see that much Dewalt and there is not much price difference in a lot of that stuff.
Even the old school cast iron Craftsman table saws are desired over a newer Dewalt. People seek them out to restore.

They closed the service center in Baton Rouge. You would have to go to Metairie if you want a factory service center. There’s a few tool repair places around Baton Rouge, like Louisiana tool repair and a few more.

The Kapex is a GREAT saw but it functions much better as a precision saw for a woodworker and not someone that cuts a lot of dimensional lumber. The electronic motor control adds some quirks that and result in motor failure from heavy use if you don't know and work with the quirks. The Kapex is "only" a 10" saw though it has good capacity for a 10". It is also expensive. Mine stays permanently mounted in my shop and I have a 12" Milwaukee (which is a great saw) slider I use for DIY site work.
The Delta "robo-arm" is a decent saw but Delta is a shell of its former self. The Bosch glider is a better saw unless you need that last couple of inches of crosscut capability. Both like the Kapex work well close to a wall.
CSMS threads are among the longest of any general recommendation threads on the woodworking forums and everyone has their own favorite. For general work I would pick the Milwaukee but most everyone from Ryobi to Festool has their fans.

Yea I mentioned it earlier. Its called the Cruzer

Ryobi
I use their saws as throwaways for crews and they are surprisingly decent for what they are. I wouldn't go hang crown with one but it's good enough for a basic trim out.
