This is what? The 3rd inaccurate possible shooter story in Baton Rouge in what? The past 2 weeks?
This is so irresponsible. People get these notifications on their phone and see "armed suspect on LSU campus at Coates" and it causes unnecessary panic.
In these situations the only people who should receive this information are students and faculty.
Or if there is specific situation where someone sees someone walk in with a gun, secure all entrances. Let proper authorities assess the situation.. But don't put this shite out there until there is something concrete to report.

There is not an active shooter but they are searching the entirety of Coates hall right now. I am on campus currently.

Run, hide, fight is all about options and where you are when a situation occurs. You may be in very close proximity and have to immediately fight to survive. Lock down works. There have been zero locked doors breached during an active shooter event, ever.

Campus is on lockdown so first responders can easily control the situation better. Coates would not be on lockdown with an active situation. best to GTFO.

Seems like some people received an "all clear" announcement but LSU's official Twitter says to continue to avoid the area.
