That’s short sighted, and frankly easy to say as a white person.
quote:I'm aware, and that shite really stinks. That doesn't change the fact that if you hate on someone solely due to the color of their skin, you are racist and perpetuating the divide.
Shel there are still people alive that dealt with segregation. It wasn’t that long ago. We have generations to go before we break the harm white people caused.

You have a severe lack of self awareness if you believe what I am saying is a troll, and that I do not take what I am saying very seriously.

You just stated that black people being racist is a result of the behavior of white people.
When the role is flipped and some white kid who has gone to a predominantly black school his entire life and has been mocked and bullied for being white, or some woman whose husband or child was murdered by a black person...would LE give them a free pass to be racist and would LE support and excuse their racism which would be based on personal experiences...

My point is, it’s generally a learnt behavior & a product of your surroundings. We did not get to this point because it’s been a black issue.

No, never.
Lester is avoiding my question because he realizes his hypocrisy is on full display. I’m going to keep asking the question as long as he keeps posting in this thread.

There will be racist blacks as long as people like you & the people at Desi Vegas Metairie exist
Let me use your logic and make an equivalent statement
“There will always be a server that adds 20% to the bill as long as some black people don’t tip well”
Are you cool with that?

Europeans don't tip for shite, everyone knows that, it's simply not the social norm in their culture.
Maybe thats racist, maybe it's not, they're white so nobody cares what stereotypes exist against them.
Maybe its racist that in most asian and middle eastern cultures its normal to negotiate every transaction as if you're spending your last dollars on food your family needs to survive the next week. It rubs many Americans the wrong way, but those who are used to it enjoy negotiating as much or more than gambling or sports.
Social norms are never going to be the same across every culture.
The problem is that the service industry in the US has lobbied and received the ability to underpay its staff based on the social norm that they will make up for it with tipping. It's a practice that is not viewed the same way across all races, nationalities, social groups, ages, genders etc. They put employees who don't make a lot in a position to make a poor decision based on what they view as their own survival.
Adding an auto-tip to a bill for a customer you think won't tip well based on race or clothing or whatever criteria an employee creates is hardly the worst thing the average person will do for money especially when they are struggling financially. That certainly doesn't make it right and doesn't mean their employer would be ok with it either.
The least they could have done was simply to say it was a mistake and apologized on the spot. They did something stupid and then doubled down on it, I'd be incredibly pissed if they worked for me.
At the same time I have very little respect for a person who will try to ruin someones business making social media posts based on a crappy employee instead of speaking with the owner directly.

Does that make it right? Does that excuse behavior?
Of course not. If so, then the idiot server and manager would justify their dumbass automatic tip on previous behavior. Behavior that research shows exists....
Wash Post Article- "What's behind racial differences in restaurant tipping?"
Washington Post link
"Learned behavior and a product of their surroundings?"
You certainly don't believe that for those idiots do you?

Do black people tip bad? Yes or no?

I don’t understand how we’re expected to cater to people that hate us

Do black people intentionally not tip white servers? If so why?
I know a lot of black waitrons who have a disdain for how their black customers tip.

I'm wondering if the couple was so bad that they thought they would be stiffed or if it is something they do pretty regularly.
huh?
It's Metairie. Despite being one of the only handful decent restaurants in metairie, it's still metairie.
nothing to do with how the couple acted, just their skin color. Again, its metairie
Is Metairie supposed to be our version of Mississippi in the 50s and 60s? I mean, I've not known Metairie to be a hotbed of racial issues lately. I know it's mostly white people and I'm not saying it doesn't have some racist people, but I don't know that it stands out to me in that way.
Yes, it obviously could have been due to their skin color. Or it could have been due to them being difficult. Neither is right. Or perhaps it was a combo of both. If it was because of skin color, since black people often eat in Metairie, I would think that many others will come out and say the same thing happened to them and it would be easily provable from credit card receipts/statements. We'll see.

Metairie is so racist I saw a Black Lives Matter sign in front of a house half a block from St. Catherine of Siena while out that way earlier today.

In their minds any gathering of whites is racist

You kinda answered your own question
I know it's mostly white people
Not many black people are stumbling into a Metairie restaurant for a $50 steak. It’s not shocking they were racially profiled.
Black people eat at both of their New Orleans spots all the time without issue.

What exactly is the end game?If there even is one

Were you aware that you can throw a rock from Desi Vega’s in Metairie and hit orleans parish?
You think the racism starts 15 feet past the parish line?
By the way when are you going to answer my question
