SIAP but I hadn't seen this posted on here before. It's 21 minutes in length but pretty interesting to see animated like this.

Those are great videos. The ground war episodes are great too. US and British tanks decimated the republican guard like a hot knife through butter

Even the erotic romantic novels he wrote were on point

I was with 3dMAW's G-2 section at Sheikh Isa in Bahrain. As the low ranking Marine in the section, I was filling sandbags on a detail for the Wing Sgt.Maj. My G-2 NCOIC came and grabbed me on the detail. He said, "tonight is the night. Go grab some sleep. You'll be debriefing the first strikes upon their return. I cleared it with the Sgt.Maj." I rode back on the bus to my squadron's tents (regularly with VMFA-314) with the various squadrons' pilots who lived farther down the perimeter road from our tents. Normally loudly talking shite, the pilots were deathly silent on that drive. You could have heard a pin drop.

The next few weeks was a blur briefing and debriefing pilots. While a couple of birds were hit, we did not lose a pilot.

You have to admit, he ran Iraq like a boss. The place worked. The garbage got picked up. And he kept Iran in line.

No one else has been able to accomplish that.

As Saddam was being led to the gallows, he kept saying the same thing: Tell Bush he doesn't know what he's doing. If he will just put me back in charge, I can still put this place back together. And we'll just forget this whole thing ever happened.

We all thought he was nuts. Turned out he knew what he was talking about. We were the crazy ones for stirring up that shite storm.

The Operations Room videos of Desert Storm reminded me just how far my unit was out of the fight, such as it was. I was in the 504th PIR. The whole 82nd was out on the far west side the only unit father west was a French Cav unit.

I was working in Jeddah at the time and was on our compound having a phone conversation with a buddy of mine I served with in England. During our conversation they started the entire group of KC-10 and KC-135 tankers outbound. As they flew over the compound I told my buddy that it might be a good move to flip the tube over to CNN and maintain visual coverage for a bit, as chit was about to go down.

The next day the BUFF's started heading out. They were pounding the National Guard EVERY HOUR for the next six weeks. Curious sidenote was that the only BUFF's that took hits were on the first day and on the last day of the campaign, both losing parts of the rudder and horizontal stabs. Due to the success of Wild Weasel strikes the Iraqi's were afraid to light up their radars for their AA missile batteries and were blindly launching SAM's at the BUFF's using proximity fuses.

My old bird's from Lakenheath were lighting up the airfields and such with 2,000 lb GBU-10's LGB's at night. Many of the airfields hits on CNN were from 111's from "The Heath".

Except for the little detail of Invading Kuwait thing. And he was definitely not going to stop there.
