I've often wondered how this doesn't happen with more school bus drivers. For me, that job would be very close to hell. I would have to stay a bit soused to do it.

Why? Booze is sold within the city limits of DeRidder

The Parish is but the city sells within the city limits because they aren't governed by the Parish.

It wasn’t when I resided there.

Off course, that was a long time ago.

Yea the City got smart and decided to quit losing tax revenue to Vernon parish. Killed the drive-through beer barn in Pickering.

One day the rest of the Parish may wake up and do the same. An Indiana built a store right on the Beauregard/Calcasieu line and makes a killing.

Tigermart in DeQuincy has made a lot of money over the years as well from Beaugard parish residents.

Also, when they first started selling it in Deridder the sales of T-shirts in WalMart went through the roof because people that didn't want their other church-going friends to see them buying it would cover the cases up with shirts in their carts. True story

Merryville also sales, or what’s left of it, almost a ghost town now. Each district votes on it

I didn't know about Merryville but they are also incorporated so not surprised they voted it in. The Parish would have to pass it Parish wide. It has literally kept restaurants and such from opening up and areas because they rely on the alcohol revenue. Just silly to me to impede progress like that. Not to mention what could be done with the tax revenue.

Also sold at gas station at Junction grocery. Was sold at Kipling Corner at first, but was voted out at next election
from what I can remember when it all changed years back, there was something found or argues where it was legal to sell unless voted out.
