Yeah, these witnesses are leaving themselves wide open for kill shots and it seems the defense is holding back for some reason.

I was thinking the same thing. But I know this guy has his defense strategy all planned out so there's a reason.

I guess they are going to use him to portray Floyd as not being a threat prior to the cops arresting him but at least he seems genuine.

That will be hard to watch. (He was such a good guy)(gentle giant), etc...

Yeah, but if they were to try that, couldn't the Defense counter with the pregnant woman who had a gun pointed at her by Floyd while his posse robbed her house.

well he just testified that he thought Floyd was high

How does that help the prosecution?

there was no reason for him to kneel on his neck and back etc. for nine minutes, especially when he isn't moving.

Agreed. Maybe they should charge him with police brutality or excessive use of force?

However, if that was how he was trained

I think this is less of an issue if GF was dead already which, looking at the coroner's report, it appears that he was.

They are all hostile. They will say whatever they have to to make Chauvin look bad. I think he can have people who know what they're talking about come on later and blow up everything these witnesses are saying.

I imagine to say that he was high but was calm, not threatening, and was otherwise acting normally.

I think they ruled that arrest inadmissible.

I think that's a big issue here

not a cop, but I've always been told to never take your foot off of the neck until it's over

will it come up, or has it been debunked that Floyd and Chauvin knew each other, worked together, had bad blood between each other, and this may have factored in to this?

Bouncers at the same bar but one worked outside and the other inside. Not sure if they ever met.

I'm not him, but I policed for two large departments for most of my adult life.
quote:

Can you ever envision yourself kneeling on a guy like that for that long?
I knelt on plenty of peoples' backs and necks. No one died. No one couldn't breathe.
quote:

Have you seen dead bodies?
Yes.
quote:

HAve you seen a person die?
Unfortunately, yes.
quote:

wonder if a cop can genuinely not know the difference between "playing possum" and actually fricking dead?
I looked at it like this - once I go hands-on with you, you're mine. I'm your daddy. I'm responsible for you. If you've aggressed the situation far enough to warrant me removing you from the car and putting you on the ground, you aren't going anywhere. You bought the ticket, you take the ride. I wasn't about to let you just get up and wander away or in any manner begin to dictate the scene.

Here, the felon was obviously drug-crazed or something. If Chauvin lets him up and he decides to run rabbit into traffic, that's on Chauvin. Under the circumstances, Chauvin did the right thing by law and by policy.

What did your departments have on the books in the way of perps and restraining them prone-style? Similar to Minny or what?

You'd think it would've already come out what the manual says
