You act like they just made up the term “expert witness” last week to impress the jury instead of it being an official term that has gone through numerous court cases to arrive at a specific definition and set of criteria.
Perhaps you can create a new name for it that is less offensive to the layperson’s feelings.

not at all, actually the opposite, a dated term, over used and over weighted by the side using it, and consequently it's impact probably diluted in the ears of juries

honestly don't know who makes that call, whenever I see an "expert witness" in my field(and I am considered to be one,) in the media, and I know the background, maybe even know the person, I cringe at some of the crap that comes out of their sewer pipes, yet the public eats it up as if it's gospel because they're the "expert"

Modest proposal:
Let a Black Lives Matter activist kneel on Chauvin's neck.
If Chauvin dies, then kneeling on the neck killed someone with no drugs in his system. Therefore Chauvin is guilty and the outcome is an eye for an eye.
If Chauvin survives, then a smaller neck and larger kneeler still wasn't enough to kill someone. Therefore it was the drugs and Chauvin walks.
