but this is premised on Chauvin kneeling on his neck with enough force to cause Floyd to stop breathing. Doesn't seem to be the case here.
I have followed what I could of this trial but honest question: How does the ME decide what ACTUALLY caused him to stop breathing? Can that be done with 100% certainty??

Did they say they found a pulse? If they continued to kneel on him for minutes without finding a pulse, that can be pretty damning.
Will have to listen again but sounded like you could hear one officer say he couldn't feel one early on. Both officers on him checked. In this case Chauvin can be seen checking his wrist the other officer was initially checking the other arm.
Much of the time people were saying he isn't responsive or breathing you can see him moving.

What do you think they'll do?
I think they will be quicker to send the natl. guard than Trump was. They don't want their admin to be stained by riots. If it was under Trump they wouldn't care cause they could pretend to be on the rioters side while Trump takes the role of enforcer.

There are ways to tell if someone died from their airway or circulation being cut off.

Wrong. He followed department protocol. Blame the game, not the player.
Fair. I just mean the overall optics.
If they're trying to placate the mob, which obviously that won't do it, what they're going after is just a pipe dream.
Utterly terrible situation for our country and its going to suck watching it go up in flames.

Department protocol is to kneel on someone's neck for 8+ minutes? Wow, glad I'm not a cop.

I'm not so sure.
They've really made their bed on this one.
They're going to look really foolish/hypocritical no matter what route they go.

Optics don't matter. Facts do. Who cares about the mob.

They don't care about that, but this is more suited for a poliboard thread. Moving on.

I mean, paramedics couldn't have given him ativan or something to chill him out?
I would highly doubt they would give a benzo. First they don’t know his pressure or what recreational drugs he took. Ativan will lower blood pressure. Ativan is mostly given out in the field when someone is seizing.

This is my point. I think its clear he showed some poor judgement during the situation and the dude is a known hardo/a-hole.
Does that make him a 2nd degree murderer in this situation?
Don't think so.

So if Chauvin weighs 200 pounds, and he had three points of contact (balls of both feet and a knee), that average weight distribution would be 67 pounds. I would assume he'd keep more weight on the knee, so let's break that out to 100/50/50 pounds.
Let's say his knee accounts for 25 square inches of contact with the felon, then those 100 pounds come out to about 4 PSI.
But assume Chauvin was driving his knee downwards. Let's up that to 150 pounds and decrease his "kneeprint" to 16 square inches. That's not even 10 PSI. In fact, all 200 pounds on a 4"x4" knee is 12.5 PSI.
Now, I'm certainly no physicist, but I think the math works out. Is that enough pressure to keep someone from breathing?

If you live in a USA city, I care about the mob and the safety of my household and family.
It's relevant whether its right or wrong.
