That usually indicates the dentist thinks you may be a candidate for periodontal issues. At one point I was getting cleanings every three months - twice a year by my dentist's hygienist (with big boobs), and twice a year by a periodontist's hygienist (who died of old age before I finished the treatment).

Dentists are just a little more trustworthy than used car salesmen.

I go every 3 months, covered by my insurance.

I have ongoing gum issues though. 3 month cleanings seems to really help keep things in check.

I go once every 2 years.

I'm 36 and have never had a cavity.

if you don't go 3 times per year, he'll just mix in a cavity filling every once in a while to catch up.

i mean......no one's gonna dispute a cavity right?

My dentist recently started recommending 4 cleanings per year. My insurance only pays for 2. I told the dentist if he would discount the additional cleanings 50% and take cash I would be for it. He said no to the offer. Guess he really doesn’t care about my teeth. frick the greedy bastard.

That's if you don't have any periodontal issues. You don't want to develop problems in the gums, recession leads to losing teeth. Which is actually great because my fiancee is a Prosthodontist, so start saving your pennies for dentures and implants so I can put gold plated truck nuts on the Platinum F-250...

I'm a dentist.
Floss your teeth.
Avoid periodontal disease, tooth loss, bleeding gums, and bad breath. Also, the bacteria associated with this is linked to dementia, heart disease, and low birth weight babies from pregnant mommies. Be smart. Floss, or pay the price, literally and figuratively.

I've been to the dentist once since 2002, which was my first year of college and had to get my wisdom teeth out.
I never floss.
I've never had a cavity.

The visit i had about 2 years ago went well, just some cleaning and everything looked great. Dentist was astonished i hadn't been to the dentist in over a decade. Told them i'd see them in another 10 years, maybe.
