Maybe so but it sounds way more than 10mph. It's like going from 15-20 to 55, BR isn't getting a sustained 40mph.

That’s it, I’m making a sign to bring to the LSU game tomorrow....

I agree. Reading this thread I thought we would be out of the worst wind around 9 or so but it seems like the backside has worse wind in Baton Rouge
I was basing my prediction on the rain bands since they almost always have the strongest winds. Didn’t think the dry winds would be stronger.

people are starting to drive out of the complex... through the flooded entry way that's up to their bumpers and are causing waves closer to the building

The wind is starting to kick in Monroe and it’s been raining hard for a while now. We’ve got a long way to go in Tim McGraw country.

KALB comparing this to Gustav
What were rain totals in the area for Gustav?

The backside winds were stronger in central and north La than the frontside winds for Laura too.

It’s little wind in BR off essen, followed by some strong gust back to back I’ve been sitting outside for awhile now and the last 10-20 mins seems to be the worst, hearing big branches cracking and breaking along with transformers blowing back side of this hurricane letting the wind loose no pun intended

Yup. My house in SBR is whistling and popping a good bit right now. Power still holding strong
The gusts are very steady- almost sustained winds right now.

Dang it, I told the wife to take the bird feeder down, gust of wind just took it away...

I’m like a kid- I can’t go to bed. I have to stare outside my front window and watch the trees whip around
I know this is small potatoes for this storm, but Mother Nature sure is something.

It's been 12 years since Gustav and my guessing could be off- but what are these gusts to in BR right now?
I see roof shingles on the ground
