This is a spicy meatball for Lafayette and Baton Rouge

Upper air recon nearly completed, some of that data made it into 18z runs but the full batch should be in the 00z runs. Also, there were extra balloon launches across the Southern Plains to add an extra round of data. Upper air is sampling the ridge and extra balloons are sampling the upper trough. How those two interact will determine when and where Delta turns north.

I’m in lafayette and riding this one out. Will give updates if it does in fact come this way

It does look better for laffy.
Looks bad for New Iberia to Morgan City and Baton Rouge
Posted on 10/6/20 at 7:59 pm to hendersonshands
I think new Iberia is going to get the brunt of this one

It only needs a 25-50 mile shift from that in 3.5 days so I wouldn't be relieved yet. It's looking pretty likely either Lafayette or Baton Rouge is going to take it right in the chops.

COAMPS has been consistently suggesting a weakening/steady period prior to the Yucatan, with significant intensification occurring in the Gulf of Mexico. Gonna be really interesting to see what happens.

Exactly. I remember Katrina evacuees telling us that their baby blankets were up in the trees .. then when Rita came I was like oh but no .. find the ones made by granny & nana.
When we evacuated for Hurricane Rita, my kids even packed their LSU autographed pics. My husband looked at my loaded car and asked if I truly needed all of it.
I looked at him and asked if he needed to take all of his guitars.
Not another word was said and everyone was happy.

Yeah, I'm not comfortable at all. I was just responding to your comment. Making sure I wasn't missing anything.

They usually get hit hard no matter what. But this may be the final blow

I'm praying that the nursing home where I work has a plan for their people ... but I can say that they've evacuated before to Many (a sister facility) and it was a cluster. Now, with Covid, just ugh.
