Thanks for the bump.
It would be interesting to watch but a lot of the amateur sleuths monetizing this are an utter shiteshow, and out of respect to the victims and their families I understand the judge ruling out cameras. Indiana just began to allow them in courtrooms last year FWIW.
The jury selection is supposed to take up several days this week, unless there are some unexpected developments.
I have a busy week, but will try to keep OP updated as best I can. There are some X, YT and media links there.

What set this guy off to murder these 2 innocent teenagers?
Posted on 10/14/24 at 9:47 am to Lawyered
I remember watching various videos on these murders, frick that dude he slaughtered those poor girls and then staged their bodies to look like some type of cult ritual. I'm glad he's not getting TV time for the trial, most of these types relish that attention.

The defense is full of dumbshits. Leaking evidence? Seriously?
Allen is going down so rest in hell.

Jokes aside, that's fricked up.
They're not even letting him pitch the ridiculous alternative theory in court? That seems wrong.

That's what I am wondering as well.
It's pretty rare (not unheard of, but very rare) for someone in their mid-40's to all of the sudden get into sadistic killing like that. He lived most of his adult life in and around that area, as well, so one would presume that if there were other teenaged girls gone missing, there would be other suspected killings, but that appears to not be the case. His own daughter would have been in her early 20's by that point, so no known connection there, either.
Wasn't the rumor that police thought this wasn't premeditated? And that there was no evidence of sexual abuse or anything of that nature?

FOX59 - 14 jurors seated so far in Delphi murders trial
Latest mugshot of Richard Allen

quote:
Fourteen jurors were selected by end of day on Monday — including eight women and six men.
quote:
During Monday’s proceedings, Carroll County Prosecutor Nick McLeland told prospective jurors a portion of what he will present in the upcoming trial against Allen. McLeland claimed that Allen is the “Bridge Guy” who killed the girls and whose image was widely seen in a grainy still taken from Libby German’s phone. McLeland said Allen used a gun to “kidnap” the girls and “have his way” with them. But ”he was interrupted,” McLeland said.
quote:
In his haste to murder the girls and throw their clothes in the river, the prosecution said Allen “left something behind — a bullet.”
quote:
The state also said Allen has confessed dozens of times to killing the girls. “You’re going to see photos and videos that show Richard Allen is the bridge guy,” McLeland told the jury pool.
quote:
Defense attorney Bradley Rozzi told the prospective jurors that Allen made those confessions under duress and claimed that some of the so-called confessions Allen made weren’t even factually accurate. Rozzi also suggested infighting between federal and local law enforcement left some evidence unanalyzed.
quote:
Jury selection will continue on Tuesday as two alternate juror seats remain empty. Judge Fran Gull stated that even if jury selection is finished early, the trial will still not start proper until Friday.

No known crimes at his age seems outside the norm. However, this HS graduation pic of his daughter on the Monon High Bridge taken several years before the murders has always given me pause.

quote:This is a local case for me. Personally, I think the guy is guilty, but there are some damn strange things and people in this world, and there's a little more than just his desperation making his claim just barely possible.
But Judge Fran Gull, assigned to the case by the Indiana Supreme Court, ruled last month to keep Allen's defense team from presenting its alternative theory about the murders.
Jokes aside, that's fricked up.
But the judge throughout the case has behaved in a way consistent with being completely in the tank for the prosecution.
His claim is extremely far-fetched, but it wouldn't be that hard (I think) to follow up and demonstrate that it's bullshite. Instead, they're making sure that it will always be that .001% question. The families of the victims deserve better.

What was also weird is that the wife posted it to Facebook just over a year after the murders.
quote:
A chilling picture shows the daughter of the man arrested in connection to the Delphi bridge murders posing in the same spot where the teenage victims were last seen alive.
The photo shows Brittany Zapanta, 28 - the daughter of Richard Allen, 50, on the Manon high bridge in the woods outside Delphi, Indiana.
It was posted to Facebook by Allen's wife Kathy, 50, in 2018 - just over a year after the girls disappeared in February 2017, although it's unclear when the photo was taken. There is also no indication as to who took the snap on the Monon High Bridge Trail.
The wife also took or posted the picture of them at the restaurant with what was likely a drawing of suspect in background.

This is the part that creeps me out.
Is the wife 100% innocent in this? Did she know anything?

There has been, like everything else in this case, endless speculation about the wife, what she knew and when she knew it.
The big questions my mind are 1) did RA tell her he was at the bridge that day, and if so did he tell her he contacted LE and gave a statement, and 2) either way how could she see the pic and video, and hear his voice, and not even just for a moment think it could be him.
There are other videos, mainly from her social media before it was taken down, in which he resembles BG, walks like BG and sounds like BG. Of course, probably hundreds of thousands of other Indiana guys fit this description, but how many of them admitted being on the bridge that day.
I hope the wife testifies for him, which opens her up for cross-examination.

Three of the 14 jurors picked yesterday have been dismissed this morning by the judge.
Posted on 10/15/24 at 10:13 am to lachellie

This is still jury selection, not presented as evidence yet.
