Recently in my area, I'm seeing delivery services like Fedex and Walmart dropping packages off either beside or behind mailboxes in my neighborhood. I know they can't put stuff in the mailbox, but they shouldn't just lay it on the ground beside or behind the mailbox, it's quick and easy to steal.

Amazon and UPS seem to still be putting on the porch or by the garage, but it seems so inconsistent.

This happening where you folks live?

I had been tracking a delivery and saw the status change to delivered.

Not in mailbox or by the door. I happened to discover it on the ground by the mailbox.

I do not remember the carrier.

Do you have a ring doorbell cam to see who the culprits are?

Here, the big 3, UPS, FedEX and Amazon are hit and miss. 25% of the time, they will just lay the package down against the garage door, uncovered in the weather. We have a covered front porch that they can put items under, out of the weather, which is 10 steps further for them.
Can't count the number of times we've had wet boxes when we come home.

Well, yes, but I know the ones I mentioned, Fedex and Walmart because it's their labels on the packages, but I don't know why they aren't delivering to the door or the garage.
Seems way less secure to leave it by the road next to the mailbox.

None of them will come up my driveway anymore. They leave packages just inside the gate (which is open) at the bottom of the driveway.

Happens all the time and I've never had an issue with theft
I also leave the keys to my vehicles in them and the key in my front door deadbolt 24/7 unless I go out of town.
I guess I should add I also live on 50 private acres in the middle of nowhere in the state ranked #1 for least crime and my property is patrolled by almost 300 lbs of Cane Corso. Oh and it is also well known that me and almost all of my neighbors are very well armed

FedEx has put smaller stuff in our mailbox before but we're on a busy thoroughfare so I don't give them too much shite for it. Anything bigger than what fits in the box they put it on the porch.

Are you here in Louisville or closer to Lexington? I couldn't remember.

UPS, Amazon, and FedEx delivers to my front door. Having a semi-circular driveway out front helps with this I suppose. Only FedEx will sometimes go to the side driveway and will place a package behind my large trash can right near the garage door. They seem to be the only carrier that tries to hide a package from passersby.

I should add, I live out in the country, so not in town, but my front porch is only 60 feet from my mailbox, so it's not like it's out of the way. I've seen it at other neighbors houses as well.

Today, Walmart delivery to my garage door. Maybe it's mostly just Fedex.

Aamazon has been doing this and it pisses me off. I even have an oversized mailbox. But i guess the dudes too lazy to go down the driveway, so sometimes they are just left on the side of the road or in the ditch next to the mailbox.

im not worried about theft, im worried the fricking thing is laying on the side of the road where eit can get rained on or run over.

They've been doing it here anytime they can fit it in the mailbox, but they do bring it up to the porch when it doesn't fit.

It's a tad annoying, but my house is really far from the street so I get it. I'd be more annoyed if it was on the ground by the mailbox though!

He is inquiring about the race of the delivery drivers.

Fedex and Walmart

FedEx Home, FedEx Ground, and Walmart rely heavily on contract drivers, and they have lowered their standards and qualifications to the point if someone simply has a driver’s license and shows up to work, then they are given a route for the day.
