An NP was elected into this Legislature. There is another nurse who is also an attorney, as well as a pharmacist. All are on the House Health and Welfare committee.
There are no physicians in the Legislature.

Docs don't have time for politics cause they are so busy saving the world and paying back student loans.

If you hate the idea of corporate money pushing legislation against the public interest, then you should be rooting for the physicians this time.
The NPs have bought several lobbying firms to pass SB187 with money from CVS, AARP, and Johnson&Johnson. Conservative estimates place the NP spending at $500K for this one bill, with other estimates in the 8-900K range. This includes lobbyists, PAC donations, media (TV/radio), and national campaign support.
If the public wanted this, they wouldn't need to spend that kind of money.
The physicians have spent less than 1/10th of what the NPs have spent.

The physicians are just being lazy. That's why the took their fight to the OT on tigerdroppings, were real decisions get made.

There is unprecedented physician involvement in this fight. Physicians across the state, most of whom have not been involved in politics, are fed up with this continued disrespect and fundamental misunderstanding of primary medicine.
Legislators are feeling the heat, and (as of last week), not supporting this bill. Otherwise, the NPs would have run the bill on Wednesday. They didn't run it, because they didn't have the votes, and would not have had them even if the House had full attendance.

You don't have to have gone to law school to know it's terrible example to reinforce the point you were trying to make when there are 2 senators, and one is a lawyer and one is a doctor

But we spent our time here and this will get read

Amen. Time to halt this wild legislative overhaul of our healthcare is now

I believe there is a good deal of opposition being expressed, from what I've heard

AARP's liberal agenda goes hand and hand with this bill, and I would guess CVS, etc just want to pack NPs in their store to drive up profits.
Where have we come to as a society when we drive the small business self-owned pharmacies and the primacy care doctors out of our towns and turn care over to mega companies interested in just churning out profit? If all this continues, you may have trouble finding a real primary doctor to see

Shame of this is if Senators Hines, Casanova and Robichaux were still in office, SB 187 would have never reached the Senate for a vote.

Your momma needs some education cause all she wants to do is suck my schlong!!!!!

I would assume your mother used a real OBGYN physician and not a midwive. Any thoughts to the contrary? Maybe you would advocate for autonomous midwives though given your behavior on here

I've been out of this thread for awhile but I see you've gone from fear mongering to pulling heartstrings. Nice shift in tactic.

Nope, just nope.

Y'all are already claiming u can't get in to see one (which is probably not true). This bill would drive some med students away from primary care sadly. If you don't believe that you're crazy
