CRNA schooling is generally 3 years, of which there's a portion of schooling that's in the classroom and not clinical. Anesthesia residency is 4 years. They do an internship and 3 years of dedicated clinical training in anesthesia. That is not comparable.

Sounds like you're a doctor so it's disappointing that you think nurses do nothing but carry out doctors orders. Perhaps it's bc of where you've worked?
I work in a high acuity ICU in a metropolitan area and I am CONSTANTLY assessing everything about my patients to keep them alive and catch anything that may be developing. I'm not doing that because a doctor said so, I'm doing it because THAT IS WHAT NURSES DO.
Yes, I will ask the doctor questions, just like I will ask my RT questions and other nurses questions. Most of the time I'm calling the doctor to ask for permission to do something rather than asking them a question.
Well that's not true and you know it. Clearly we disagree, I'm not going to change your mind and you won't change mine.

An icu nurse that thinks they know everything. Shocker. You carry out the doctor's orders whether you want to admit it or not.

Once again, this bill would not require anyone to see an NP. If you want to go to a MD for all your primary care then go right ahead. In fact this bill will make it even easier As NPs siphon off some patients and reduce the logjam.
I just love how everyone is free market until it affects them

I tried to give you a legitimate response and you respond with more ad hominem invective and thoughtless stubbornness. obviously I carry out doctors orders, but that isn't the entirety of what I do
. Also, me knowing what I do makes me a know it all? Ooooook
An arrogant doctor, shocker.

You ignore where I explain the difference in training of anesthesiologists and CRNAs, then repeat the same wrong statement that they're the same.
Do CRNAs do an internship? Do they have the same amount of clinical training?
Your 'legimate response' contained a: THAT IS WHAT NURSES DO. Not sure I have to say anything else.

This is not even close to developing a differential diagnosis, a final diagnosis, then constructing a plan of care and executing it
You are clearly over confident based on your experiences, which despite what you believe have mostly been directed by a doctor. ICU nurses are extremely good, any catch many many overlooked issues. But remember you are caring for 1 maybe 2 people. You don't have a list of 20.

I don't even agree with NPs being independent
im not arguing that nurses are doctors. Like I agree with you. I was responding to some jackass that clearly doesn't know what nurses do.

Another non-response. Keep up the good work chief

There are definitely alot of posters here that do not know what nurses do
There are also alot of posters that do not know what doctors do on a daily basis
Frustrating right?

This is not a good idea. Thankfully, I don't live in LA.

I'm all for it.
Let people have access to a NP if they so choose and don't feel like they need a MD

I know a little about what doctors do. They have a very hard job and I have nothing but respect for them.

Neither is 99% of the interactions primary MDs have with patients. Which is fine, I don't need Gregory Housey for my strep throat or the spot on my back.

How about this: studies show there is no difference in outcomes when care is provided by an anesthesiologist or CRNA.

Have a link to that study?

I'm a CRNA and what our actual training encompasses and what is listed on the American society for anesthesiologists website don't correlate.
After earning a BSN and working 6 years in the ICU I began CRNA school. The first 9 months were didactic then I began clinicals which consisted of 4 days a week every week for 24 months straight while the fifth day of the week was a classroom day.
