There will be heavy snow. There will be warm air above the surface. Some will see reduced snow totals because of the warm air above the surface, which results in sleet at times. If you are lucky, you will be in the jackpot zone where the heavy snow and the cold air line up.

Man the GFS has a low of 4° and Canadian a low of 2° for BR area on Wednesday @ 0600. That cant be possible, can it?

Put low volume sprinklers under the tree

The water will release heat as it freezes and help warm the tree

Incandescent christmas lights, particularly C7/C9 work much better.

Why does the scale go to 36"+ for that map

Also, totals will be reduced as you move closer to the coast because of warm air advection above the surface.

Highly unlikely. Both models cool the surface too much when there is snowpack.

I'm thinking if those totals verify it'll go beyond winter wonderland and cause some pretty severe hardships for some people. Things like collapsed roofs, etc.

Are there ways to reduce the snow collecting on a roof? Would warming the attic with portable heaters help?

Have never seen such employed. Would imagine too many forces to offset to benefit or it would be a practice where snow typically falls

We wait it out in North Texas

Only time I had a problem is the wind blew snow near a whirly roof vent, it packed, froze, began to melt into the attic

Do you know what the snowfall ratio is expected to be?

Thanks to you and Havoc for the replies. Have people trying to schedule time with me and wanted to be sure that it was basically an all day event and that meeting shouldn’t happen.

The sun and blue skies have just about gone away in Lake Charles and clouds are moving in.

Would I have to rebook my flight if my flight is in Nola @ 5 am on Thursday and I’ll be coming from BR? Does snow usually melt that quickly

I hit a high of 35.6 about 30 mins ago. It has been very slowly dropping since then.
