My water heater is also in an outside closet and I've had a heater in there that's been on for over 24 hours now to prevent it from freezing up.

Is today the coldest day in the history of South Louisiana? I remember way back in January 1962 the temps got down to 10 in Baton Rouge and NO, and 3 in Shreveport, but never widespread single digits in Acadiana

My guess is no. They will use the excuse that Friday will be needed to inspect the buildings and make any necessary repairs.
