Reporting live from the northern outskirts of St. Amant and I can confirm that it is indeed cold out here.

Would be unpleasant but 5 miles each way is doable if the situation is dire
That's how I did elementary school. And it was uphill both ways.

Never heard is said like that. I’ve always heard and said “colder than a witches tit in July”

Some shite is going to break today at a refinery or something like it did back in 1989. It rarely gets this cold around here.

Main roads and highways will improve the fastest due to traffic. The biggest problem by late Thursday into Friday will be getting in and out of a lot of neighborhoods and residential streets.
People expecting a significant snowmelt anytime soon are going to be in for a surprise. Plus, NWS has adjusted their highs for today. Temps are going to struggle to get above freezing across the region, but the sun will help a lot with the melt.

It’s 7 degrees and there is a foot of snow on the ground. Mawmaw and Pawpaw wouldn’t believe me if I told them.

Baton Rouge set a post-1900 record low of 7 degrees. Breaking the old record of 8 set in December 1989 when Exxon blew up.

So my flight yesterday got pushed back till tonight from Florida to BTR.
Curious of how the city is responding today if businesses are going to be open today / life is resuming over there or is everyone / everything still hunkered down?
Also thoughts on chances of flying into to BTR tonight

Ole Rob said it would get down to 11° or 12° in Lafayette. It's freaking 5° outside.
