Problem is that it’s gonna thaw then not have enough time to dry before it gets below freezing again until Thursday late morning.

By no means is this is an exhaustive list and totals are preliminary but here are some of the numbers reported so far today.

Baton Rouge likely experienced its 2nd biggest snow event on record, trailing only 1895.

Will freeze again tomorrow and then should start thawing out pretty good mid morning on Thursday. I’d say roads will be safe to travel then, at best.

That's what I'm thinking. I have to imagine tons of wrecks and road closures starting tonight and continuing tomorrow as well.

Last week it was projected into the mid-40ss for hours with lots of sunshine too, and the lows tonight were in like the mid-20s, IIRC. I was optimistic but I don't know now.

near total silence

The one thing I really LOVE about snow. The quiet as it's falling (sometimes so quiet you can actually hear the bigger flakes hitting the snowpack) and after is so tranquil.

I’m just assuming I’m not driving anywhere until lunch on Thursday.

Exactly.

My yard has legit 5-6" of snow piled up (I dug an area for the dog to piss/shite so it's more than just a guess). That is all going to be a block of ice tomorrow. Unless ALL of that thaws and drains, it's just going to be more ice after a night of mid-low 20s.

Yeah I don't think I'm going to be able to make my early morning medical appointment in Lafayette on Thursday, whether I go Wed night or Thursday am.

My friend just sent this to me......around Highland Road and Bluebonnet.
He said he was pretty friendly, but did not want to go on the leash

Just woke up in Pointe Coupee. Not a blade of grass is showing. Got a 4 year old that’s gonna be pumped when she wakes up!

Family is back inside cleaned up and settled down by the fireplace. Everyone has rosy red cheeks and runny noses from playing outside all day. Man, what a great day... Kiddo is slap wore out just staring off into the fireplace. I asked her is she had fun today, "This was like the best day ever, I'm not even joking."

Gonna sleep good tonight and we'll back out there tomorrow!

Now that we have seen this come together this way, am I the only one wondering how it is so rare?

Exactly why we should use more natural gas for heating homes and water.

Any thoughts as to when IAH and MSY will resume normal operations?

Not if you are in some areas of Houma. Some people were complaining earlier today about low gas pressure in some areas. The parish said that the City Gas system was at maximum pressure.

Heaven forbid Entergy/City of Houma/SLECA shites the bed tonight, some people would freeze. Not enough gas to heat your home and add a few hundred or thousand natty generators, and you have some people in the cold tonight.

Commemorate this historic occasion with rare snowballs from the Gulf of America. Handcrafted. $500 each. Delight as you pelt your libtard woke bicurious anti-capitalist yankee neighbor with a President Trump-approved Gulf of America snowball. Embedded seashells extra. PM me.

This could be big, boys.
