This reminds me of the Endymion King drawing. Buddy of mine was going to throw his name into the raffle. Then, a wiser, older gentleman grabbed his hand and said, "if they pull your name you won't be able to afford any of the parties you'll have to throw."

Is the king of this party figured out in a similar manner?

Sounds like sour grapes. This event, although La centric, is not any different than others that go around DC throughout the year including the type of people that show up.

I have closed business every year I have went too. So despite the range of people that go, and that’s any type of event, people are having a lot of fun and some are making some money.

Thought about going this year but it’s the same weekend as the Super Bowl. Would rather not be there if the Saints make it.

Not this year. I don't have family in NOVA anymore, so it's basically just a trip for that now. Plus, after 20 or so non-consecutive appearances, I think I can say I covered it in this lifetime.

Have to get tickets pretty early, been sold out for awhile. Flight lands at MSY at 3pm. Hope there are no delays.

I get offered tickets from a friend every year and have yet to make the trip. One of these days I’ll go, but not on Super Bowl weekend when the saints have a legitimate shot

I had to buy the tickets before the season even started so at the time the Saints were on radar but did not expect a 2009 scenario.

It will all work out unless we have some weather related issues like 3 years ago. If that happens I’d still be watching it but with a different set of friends.

We have never been to DC and plan to make a week long trip out of this event. Does anyone know of an additional 2-4 tickets available this year? Our group keeps growing as tickets have become available.

It just looks bad. Maybe it is just an innocent fun event. But it looks like cronyism and politicians living the good life.
Naïve much?

I’ve been a couple of times, the given reason of sharing our culcha with the Yankees and the locals who HAVE to be in DC is a bit of a smokescreen for what it allows to actually facilitate there.

It is quite the talent-rich environment for we heterosexual males. Smart ones.

If you do it right you won't have time to do much else in DC. I lived in DC for a bit and have been to DC Mardi Gras a few times since I've been back home. Several times I was part of a group with people who haven't been to DC before and/or people who wanted to spend more time doing DC stuff and sightseeing.

It was always really hard/actually impossible for those folks to have a good time because they tried to do to much and that time of year the weather can be moody.

My advice, go and have fun, but only pick a few DC things you want to see/do that weekend. I would pick another time to do a "fun DC stuff" trip.
