My child has been attending the early learning program at a K-12. They shut down April and May and made us pay “only 50%” as if they were doing us a favor, while we got 0% return on that investment. I’ve been calm and patient so we don’t lose the spot when everything opens June 1... get an email at 7 tonight letting everyone know they basically haven’t started on a plan for reopening and they hope to have a decision on whether or not they will open for the summer.

A lot of calm people are going to go ballistic when they find out this place isn’t opening until fall while 95% of Baton Rouge daycares will be open by June 8.

Rant over.

Not shocking they’d follow the school, I guess

I’ve reached out to Parkview about openings. Not holding my breath.

I’ve come to realize that daycare is a complete waste of money. I’ve been working from home full time while taking care of a 1 year old. If I could permanently work at home she would never go back and I’d save 10k a year until she starts kindergarten.

I don’t know what kind of work you do, but if my 1 year old son is awake, he’s screaming until I get away from my computer and play with him. He doesn’t self entertain for shite.

We may be in a similar fit of rage. Our home daycare provider shut down but required everyone to continue paying during the time off. Her rule has always been that if you don’t pay, you’re bumped from your spot. She has a long waiting list and is highly recommended so we paid knowing we need and want her services next year.

She reopened a few weeks ago but we kept our daughter home since we’re home anyway.

Now she’s saying she may close down next school year because she doesn’t want to deal with the strict guidelines in place from DHR for the virus.

So we paid $2000 for no services and only to hold our spot that won’t exist next year?

Rage.

We’ve been doing the same and I’d gladly pay double what they charge to be able to focus on work. Luckily the daycare opened back up a couple weeks ago.

I have been emailing every daycare in Baton Rouge all night. Hopefully some food news pops soon.

They're getting paid to stay at home. They don't give a shite about your kid.

(Well that was true before, but now even more so).

Was she also collecting unemployment in addition to charging y’all? I know some were getting the max $763 after tax weekly unemployment.

Hope not. I doubt it though.

For us we can pay $100 one time till it opens back up. 50% would have pissed me off and when told may not open back up till the fall
