If the music is so good today, Why aren't they playing it in grocery stores?

Saw him 20 years ago at a corporate event in Atlanta and he was washed up then. Dude looks like a perv now.

It's Van Halen not Van Hagar.

He was never a great vocalist to begin with even back in his glory years.
In the late 70's up until the mid 80's, no one epitomized "rockstar" better than DLR. There is really no debate that Sammy is a better pure vocalist and he has had a tremendous career. But VH was a much better band with
Roth as front man.

people mostly talk about his showmanship. But DLR was a pretty good singer. Moreso on his solo albums.
Sammy Haggar still whines and bitches about DLR...but Van Halen lost their balls when DLR left.
From "I'm hot for teacher" to "i can't stop loving you, no matter what you say or do"

I'll debate it. So he could hit higher notes maybe. But he was boring AF. Nowhere near the character in his voice that Roth had.
Depends on how you judge "better"

What in the hell is someone's motivation to go see a senior citizen single songs that he did as a kid, is beyond my though process.
That's fricking hideous

He looks like a bobblehead. His noggin' is huge on his stick body.

I can't argue the point. Van Halen didn't sound like Van Halen without Diamond Dave. I maintain Sammy Hagar is a better pure singer but trying to replace DLR with him in VH was forcing a square peg in a round hole. Alex Van Halen basically said as much in his recent book. While I haven't read it, he supposedly only covered the Roth era and candidly stated the band lost its soul when they parted ways with DLR.

and Eddie sound like they were two of the biggest assholes in the business, rivaled only by Henley and Frye

But also didn't sound near as bad as I was expecting.
There was a video of him from about 4-5 years back that was horrible. This video doesn't show it, but he has a group of 4 or 5 backup singers. It's not great, but to be honest he's not selling a music performance as much as he's selling a little bit of nostalgia for people who want to feel young again for a few hours.

I was 13 too. Biloxi. Very eye opening for a 13 year old.
