I met David Duke at a bar on the Mandeville lakefront back when he was active in politics. I spent just long enough talking to him to realize he is an empty suit. He really isn’t bright at all. I was shocked. I expected him to be one of those wicked smart but crazy motherfrickers or a super personality like Edwin Edwards or Jimmy Swaggart. He wasn’t any of those. He was just not that impressive.

Saw him in Mandeville Rouse’s a few weeks ago.

He looked weird, like hunched over.

I guess carrying around all that evil gets pretty heavy after a while.

There are good people on both sides. It's not a narrative when it actually comes out of a person's mouth. That's a statement.

He was walking around before an LSU game 4/5 years ago and everywhere he and his entourage went they were jeered relentlessly. It was difficult to watch , like watching the moments before an impromptu hanging. He also looked really old and haggard. Like life had trucked him and he was barely hanging on.

True Story, a guy I coached with's Dad was Duke's campaign manager and were huge Tulane fans. I went by their house to watch Tigervision for a Tulane-LSU game. Nicky Hall was Tulane's QB and the Dad and my friend were calling him every derogatory name in the book. I dont know if it was because Duke and I were LSU fans and were happy with how bad Hall was, or he didn't know me and didn't want to say anything, but he never jumped in with the comments. He was a quiet guy for the most part, drinking wine and eating popcorn.
