She's had 6 ear infections since January. Tubes are way over due.

Both of my boys had ear tubes... Both before 2 years old. It's really no big deal... And the ear infections are basically over.

Both of mine got them. Pretty quick procedure and recovery. But when the kid comes to for the first time, they'll be completely manic. It took a while to get both of ours to stop crying. It just takes time for the gas or anesthesia to
This. She will be freaked out. You and your wife will be freaked out
but it will all be ok that afternoon.
It is very upsetting at the time though.

Tubes tied? Are you planning on hitting that after she recovers?
I'm sure that was alot funnier in your head

Thats BS. My son maybe had one ear infection before tubes. But always had some fluid behind his ears when he went in for checkups. Docs said it wasnt infected, but may eventually cause an infection. Well he never got them, but they still said itd be good to get tubes. So we did it. Hes since had 3 ear infections. Difference is, they are external. They drain and can be fixed with ear drops instead of oral antibiotics. Just want to clarify that tubes wont necessarily make your kid free from sickness.
Worst thing about the procedure is 1) watching your kid go to the back and 2) them waking up all drugged up and scared. Son didnt even know who we were, so it didnt even feel like we could comfort him. He was just freaked for like 5 minutes. Slept on the way home and was perfectly normal after that.

Maybe he is taking responsibility for being irresponsible in expanding his gene pool.
In all seriousness though, no it's a simple procedure. Barely hurts the kid. They're back to themselves (save for the swimming) in mere minutes.

Literally a 30-60 second procedure. Couldn't be easier.

Easy. Watch the water in the ears for the first couple of months - don't sweat splashes really as it isn't like a drop in her canal will make her deaf - but don't want to be in the pool underwater. Kid will love it and the no infections is great. Hopefully, you can see when it actually falls out when done - I found mine on my son's pillow. It was crazy.

Yes, just be there when they wake him up. He will be in shock. It'll only last for a little bit. My dude woke up was hysterical and then 20 minutes later passed out in the car on the ride home.
Waant bad at all.

I got them when I was 6 and I don't remember anything about it, so I take that as a sign that it's no big deal.

Sounds like you had the opposite experience, but tubes stopped my daughter's ear infections. Before tubes she had them chronically, maybe every other month. After the tubes, she never had them.

I'd be such a horrible parent because I couldn't stop myself from messing with a drugged up kid. It's like sitting me in a room with a red button that has a blinking light and a BOOM sign

If you thought that was funny or clever in any way, you should give up attempting to think. You should also take a break from posting. A long one. Geez. You're sick.
Nephew just got tubes. A breeze. He was pretty funny as the anesthesia wore off even though he was sort drunk and teary eyed. Don't let that part bother you. I dont think they even remember it. After a little nap, he was 100% himself. Never looked back

When you are holding her in recovery, don't get to close to her face. I watched a mother fall out of chair with child because she got some fumes of gas from child's breath. True story

My nephew had the procedure and like magic, no more infections (6 months older than my son). Then we did it and hes actually had more. But they were easy to take care of. Doctors told us that is normal and the tubes are doing their job. We just were under the impression getting tubes was to completely stop the chance of ear infections. To be fair, he probably would have gotten them without tubes and they'd have been worse, but we just weren't expecting them at all.
Not trying to scare anyone. The procedure is easy and barely affects the kid outside of that 5-10 minute wake up period. No pain or anything. Just the drugged up bit. And like someone said, you'd think it'd be funny, but it's not because there was a genuine fear in my kid. At least that was my experience.
