It's a fair point. I'm operating on the assumption that there has to be a government of some kind. I guess the basis of this debate is what is the government's role in the first place? What exactly is it supposed to do?

I think the laziness is overblown. It does exist though. But I think that's an easy excuse used by the right when wailing about taxes while spending trillions on the war on drugs and terror.
Healthcare will absolutely not lower costs on it's own however. Just look at the epi-pen fiasco for proof of that.
A lot of it is addressed in the podcast where they kind of hint at how when there such a large population that feels like they've been left out, something is going to happen at some point.
