Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect who they consider "armed and dangerous" in connection with a fatal shooting this evening on Mississippi Street in New Iberia.
A spokesman with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says Akeam Daniels, 26, fled the scene in a 1978 white two-door Cadillac with a black roof and the Louisiana license plate 698BJX. Deputies also believe Daniels has his two-month-old child with him.
Witnesses tell deputies Daniels and the victim were arguing when the shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Mississippi Street.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released pending notification of family, was transferred to a New Iberia hospital where he later died.
