Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.

If the word “cardiomyopathy” ever gets mentioned the anti-vaxers are going to flip their shite.

So prior to HIPAA

They hold press conferences outside hospitals for high profile people frequently. I’m sure family members authorize the health officials to release some/all of the info. Easiest way to ensure so many people with questions get correct info and prevent wild rumors.

Shot to the chest at the exact right time in cardiac cycle can stop your heart. Extremely scary. Hopefully this kid pulls through. Don’t see how they continue this game.

Where the hell do you idiots get this shite? If that were true football players would be dying left and right on the field. Rugby players, kickboxers, mma fighters. All would have D-Day like casualty rates.

It’s a documented medical phenomenon. Commotio cordis. Google is your friend.

From science books

quote:

Commotio Cordis refers to the sudden arrhythmic death caused by a low/mild chest wall impact. Commotio Cordis is seen mostly in athletes between the ages of 8 and 18 who are partaking in sports with projectiles such as baseballs, hockey pucks, or lacrosse balls.

Don’t you just love when people call others idiots only to prove that they themselves are the idiot.

What he said was true and it has happened before. Chris Pronger once took a slap shot (hockey) to the chest and collapsed due to cardiac arrest in a playoff game.

FYI, hypothesis was proven via medical experiment decades ago of shooting 40mph baseballs at a pig's chest.

I’m calling bullshite. Just because someone makes up some Latin words doesn’t make it true. If it were a real thing then humans would have quit playing recreational sports a few thousand years ago because apparently your heart can just stop everytime you get hit. At best it’s a preexisting condition that people didn’t know about that really caused the death.
