My teammate that had something like this happen on the field was put in an ice bath once they finally got his heart beat stabilized. I am not a medical professional but apparently they do that to take the stress off the heart to give the body time to recover.

Time from cardiac arrest to cpr is the key here. If cpr was initiated early enough he’ll be fine. Can’t tell from the video clips how long it took.

the NFL wants to keep adding more and more weeks huh? So now here we are. These games are brutal on players

SVP doing a good job keeping RC from going completely unhinged on the NFL.

Ryan Clark? Yeah, we know him all too well

Seems like they’re saying nfl said go on

I think maybe people are sedated when intubated so they don’t move around or stress out from having a tube in their airway. But I’m no doctor. Still, I think he’s going to be okay. Sure hope so.

Aneurysm isn’t going to happen that quickly after a hit. Aortic dissection much more likely from a violent collision but even that is unlikely to make you collapse in a few seconds.
My dads cause of death is listed as aortic aneurysm. My mom was with him when it happened. She said it was instantaneous.
Coincidentally, the paramedics worked on my dad for a long while too and were pretty severe in their actions. That’s why these two events seem so
Similar to me.

What’s that have to do with the events of tonight?

I think the officials on the field were just going by the standard operating procedure when there is a serious incident.
This one was more than just a "serious incident" though.

Its to reduce the amount of oxygen the heart needs, minimizes tissue damage. They cool bodies down during open heart surgery for the same reason

Arctic sun is the cooling system used after cardiac arrest one the patient gets to icu. It helps.

That’s where RC is attempting to take it but I don’t think that’s what happened. Like SVP said, the teams took the decision out of the NFL’s hands.

this game is part of the weeks that the nfl has added in recent years, this game would not have happened tonight without the additional weeks
Posted on 1/2/23 at 10:01 pm to DVinBR
That hit could have just as easily happened in Week 1. The extra weeks played no part in this tragedy other than the date that it happened on.

Correct. They medically keep you asleep and then gradually bring you out. He will be intubated for at least three days while they check things out.
Still do not know or have not heard exactly the diagnosis?
I have been assuming cardiac event and the “not breathing on his own” as something they actually did to stabilize him until they could get things under control and have the tube out in.
I suspect the tube was out on when they were outside stadium “waiting for then mom”
They would not have done that while moving.
They might have even done it on the field.

Both of these teams would be in the playoffs. One of them would have a bye probably.

Has Lebron chimed in yet?

Got downvoted last time I said something about his GFM but it is up over $700K in an hour.
There’s a gofundme for an NFL player?
I mean you think the league would cover the costs, or insurance or something. Not like this was someone down on their luck
