I once had a drunk girl walk into my apartment. She went straight to my roommates room, so I mean what would you think? Then my roommate came out and was like who is this girl? Turns out she went to the wrong apartment. Never once tried to shoot us, but she did use my roommate's toothbrush. We got her home safely, one floor down.

and apparently the guy smoked pot regularly..So there was no frame up job..The pot was his.

I think it's very plausible that she was shite faced and missed all of the signs that she was in the wrong place. That just doesn't excuse the murder

I'm confused about how people think it helps her in any way. The only angle I can even remotely see is the defense trying to say if the guy wasn't stoned maybe he would have listened to the commands of the intruder with a weapon in his own apartment

Oh I wasn't replying to you, I was responding to the fact they were bringing that up in court to make him out to be a bad guy.

What was said in court? Honestly asking? I wouldn't say its completely irrelevant either though, some people do get anxious when high. Do I think it likely made any difference? Absolutely not. Irrelevant though, I'm not sure.

I’m not ok with this , I lived in many high rise apartments as a 20 year old and walked into the wrong one before, the hallways do look the same on even / odd floors ,

All the prosecution has to say to the jury..
"..now imagine he was white".

Sorry for the misunderstanding..
I don't know all the stuff about this case but there was a lot of false info that was put out there. One thing I didn't understand was the lawyer for the family was holding press conferences. He was leaking false info to the public. I think they ended up putting a gag order on the case because of him.

However this is the problem with having a gun , u grab it first, when I just turn around quickly.

It was a damn accident.
Does anyone here think she murdered a guy that lives directly above her with intent?
As far as the doormat and other differences in the hallway, if she was carrying a bunch of stuff and looking at her phone, the subtle differences and the red doormat could have easily not caught her attention.
She did walk into a guy’s dwelling and kill him so involuntary manslaughter is the only charge she should have gotten.
Let her do a year or two and handle the rest in civil court.

She can do a minimum of 7, and the DPD can break out their checkbook.

Why is it that the family of every person killed by a police officer hires the biggest piece of shite lawyer they can find instead of one of the dozens of high-profile, respectable lawyers in the area?

2nd degree Murder is a little much for them to ask for IMO. Negligent homicide or voluntary manslaughter seems more realistic.
She can still be found guilty (and it sounds like she should be) of manslaughter if she beats the murder charge.

intoxicated manslaughter is a thing in texas, right? thats what she will most likely get

not sure if there is any validity to it, but I read somewhere that she and had issues with him in the past. Being a noisy neighbor or something like that.
