Then why do they own so many weapons? Serious question.

I own 9-10 guns. Some of them were my grandfather's. I just acquired them over time. Rifle for hunting, shotguns, large pistol, small pistols, AR for boar hunting and target shooting.

No, not really. 29 people were killed by 5 knife-wielding attackers in a train station. Imagine the deaths if it was 5 AR-15 wielding attackers?

It's difficult to take some of you seriously when you can't even admit that some of these guns are highly efficient killing machines. Yes, it takes another person to pull the trigger, but the tools made available to that person are still a topic of conversation.

laugh at the idea that these guns are for home defense.

Why?
The idea that something is rare doesn't exclude one from owning a firearm for peace of mind. The fact that something is rare doesn't really have anything to do with how a single story can affect the human psyche.

I've got one handgun for close quarters bear protection. Basically a last line of defense. The odds of me having to use it are very low, but it still gives me a sense of peace of mind.

I laugh because home defense is the argument brought up in opposition to magazine bans and whatnot.

I'd have more respect for their argument if people just came out and said they really enjoy guns and they believe the 2nd amendment protects their rights to those guns. That's that. Don't play on the boogeyman of home defense.

It's perfectly valid. Peace of mind is a very strong component of quality of life.

No, but if its jaws are locked around by shoulder I'm not going to be able to use a rifle very effectively.

They are tools designed to kill things quickly and efficiently. It's not like it's people beating the shite out of folks with a toaster or something.

Cool, let's keep inanimate objects out of the hands of crazy people.

I have figured that out.

You're the one arguing that a knife is just as efficient as a gun in a mass killing situation. That's absurd.

So we ban guns. What next? The argument is know knives vs baseball bats? Then bats vs sticks? Or bare hands?
