What a horrible story. Could you imagine what this father is feeling right now?

Apparently he was teeing off and his daughter was in the cart 20 yards away. I’m guessing he hit a hozzle rocket directly sideways or clipped the ball with a driver and it took off that direction. I couldn’t imagine he’d have the cart parked in front of where the tee box was.

Very tragic story. Be careful out there.

This should never happen.

Same scenario, Dad kills daughter with golf ball, happened around 2000 in Lafayette. Girl went to our middle school and it was AWFUL.

Sounds like she wasn't in front of him based off that. Just terribly unlucky.

ETA: Although 20 yards is a bit far from tee box to cart path, so who knows. Regardless, shitting on the dad seems unnecessary.

was prepared to come inhere with a barrage of golf references till I saw it was a six year old, dad's a dumbass, but he's going to have to live his years out thinking about this, so I guess he'll suffer greatly

Sounds like he shanked a drive at a 90 degree angle. The guy must be a wreck.

ETA - Just read this.

"The golf cart was not positioned directly behind or in front of Aria’s dad — it was between 45 and 90 degrees to his left."

The daughter was 6 years old.

I could say some things about the dad but he is going to carry this with him every day for the rest of his life, so I'll refrain.

Sad. And pretty tasteless title.

Yeah, I think my mom taught that girl at LJA. I remember hearing about it at the time and sometimes it crosses my mind when I'm hitting a shot with someone in a spot that I 'shouldn't' be able to shank it that bad but sometimes do because I'm not a regular golfer.

Most golf courses have a minimum age limit .... seems I've usually seen it posted as around 10 or 12 years old. Surprising a 6 year old was allow on the course.

I don’t think a lot of people grasp the concept of how much damage a golf ball can do. Never hit into someone if there is the slightest chance you could reach them. Always wait for the green to not only clear but for the group in front to drive off.
