had 2
one at urologist office and nothing to knock me out, and it was terrible
second time after a car accident. I was on a morphine drip. It was still terrible
Be careful what you say to your urologist. Unless you're pissing blood, don't say anything

Cystoscope caught bladder cancer as I was concerned about passing blood. Underwent 6 weekly sessions of BCG. Waited about a monthe then a three week treatment followed by another three weeks.
Each session involved a cystoscope and a ton of BCG. I started on my back and every 15 minutes rotated to my side, then my stomach, an so on unti an hour was up.
I am cancer free an now have cystoscope every six months.
My dad got the bladder cancer diagnosis a couple weeks before covid shutdowns. I was pretty bummed when he said there was no stones, as this was the other likely option. He's been doing maintenance treatments every 6 months, and I'll never stop laughing that he totes around bleach and doesn't flush instantly on treatment days.

I told my urologist I was sure a bunch of doctors were drinking and one of then said, "I know, let' try that tuberculosis stuff on these guys."
Sometimes you gotta throw the kitchen sink at shite... but I'm imaging in vitro results looked promising so they got a trial up and running. Glad to hear your treatment went as well as my dad's. December my dad got the full all clear, after doing treatments every 6 months since April of 2020.

Had one after passing my first kidney stone. The stone must have been jagged because it left a wound in my urethra about a half inch from the tip that did a lot of bleeding.
Subtle brag about having at least 1/2 inches noted.

Why not give propofol like during a colonoscopy? I have to imagine a cystoscope is more uncomfortable than a colonoscopy.

The removal is not pleasant.

They put me to sleep for mine. They placed a stent after retrieving a stone from hell.
It was pretty terrible. The worst was the pain inflicted by the stent when you pee. They pretty much brutalized me. Pissed blood for a couple days.
Bad, but not the worst medical procedure I’ve endured. I think it depends on why they’re doing it. If they are just looking around, no big deal.

my thoughts exactly. I will take a Doctor's fist up my arse all day long as opposed to a cystogram.

I don’t think that’s a medical procedure. Your doctor tricked you

The Urologist wanted me to look at a monitor that was a little over my left shoulder
Same here, I figured this would just prolong the process so I said I did not want to look.

I don't know how old you are, but thank your lucky stars that was "the worst fricking thing ever" that you've experienced in your medical history.
I'm 66.
It has been a while so time dulls the memory of the pain but when I was 18 my appendix burst in me. If I hadn't been so young and healthy I might've died from infection. I couldn't even swallow my own saliva without heaving which with a fresh 6" abdominal incision was blindingly painful.
I spent a week in the hospital of which two days of terror and torture were spent with a tube up my nose down to my stomach watching some awful green matter flowing out of my nose every time I heaved. Tube insertion and removal procedures were shocking to put it mildly.
I spent the summer of '75 with an open wound in my abdomen and a tube inserted into me draining more awful fluids. Still have a hideous scar.
I'll admit that is a very close second place.

I think that's what got it the top spot with me. Like trying to piss out broken glass shards.
