???
Edit: nvm, understand what you are saying now.
He's actually shown pics of his bikes and he's one that appears to have a sensible collection and setup.

Just be aware that you don't want to hang a mountain bike with a hydraulic shock upside down. They're not designed for that and the fork oil will leak out.
I have four bikes hanging in my garage from 11 foot ceilings using these:

The one I posted doesn't get screwed into the wall. Just leans against it. Holds my 15# road bike up top and my 32# MTB on bottom fine.

Wasn't a huge fan of those aesthetically, but if I can do it without screwing into the wall or at least keeping it to a minimum, that'd be nice.

Get a can of spray paint if you hate it that much. It's the Delta cycle michaelangelo two bike gravity bike rack.

I meant the design (I know that's petty, but it is going in a "decorated" room). They have those made out of wood and other nicer finishes.

Nice not so subtle brag.
I just keep mine in my office on the trainer, but I don't really have a need for a super space saving solution. I also read not to use the hooks cause they could warp the wheels, don't know how true it is though.

I used to think the same about the hanging hook damaging good wheels. Until one day my bike shop guy pointed out that a good wheel set is made to support up to a 200 lb guy on roads with bumps, holes, etc. Surely they can handle the weight of a 20 lb bike hanging from a wheel.

I'd hang a bike from full carbon wheels. I currently don't have good wheels at the moment, but nearly pulled the trigger on a set of HED Jet 6+ wheels last week. Those are just a flimsy carbon fairing (you can squeeze it and it flexes a lot). Wouldn't hang a bike from those type of wheels, and that's what I can really afford (granted I really can't afford those)

quote:TBH we hardly ever ride these bikes. Most of the time grab my hybrid, not really care about distance, just want to get a workout on the trace. These are kept in a rec/media room our sons use and didn't want these to get knocked over and hurt someone or the bikes. What can I say? I was a LBS wrench in college and like decent stuff. I can't keep these in the garage as there is a big door in the pool area to the garage and things start to rust/corrode in the garage after a few years.

How much does this pay. Do you have to have any certifications to work on certain parts or anything. I like to tinker and am slowly learning. There's a traveling mechanic that works out of his truck in our area and it seems like it'd be an interesting side job. Not that I'd ever actually do it.

Yes, I have four of these and use them for my road, CX,and mountain bikes. It's just a little "holder" for the front wheel, and the bottom wheel leans against the wall (you add a little plastic strip to prevent scuffing).

I gave up on white tape. Too damn hard to keep it clean.

Mostly just learned on the job. We were a local shop and a $4k bike was absolutely top of the line back then. Most of the time you end up working on junk though lol. Even back then it was pretty easy to run up a $100 bill on a 2-300 bike and people would get miffed.

Yeah, I couldn't keep my old white R3 clean to save my life, so I avoid white bar tape and white kits. That photo was just to show the Clug; not my bikes.
