I ride my bike and see that from others all the time, I don't get it either. I primarily stick to bike paths (we have over 40 miles in northwest Arkansas). if I need to cross a busy intersection I use the crosswalk. On the rare occasion I am riding on the street, if there is traffic I pull over and get out of the way. There are a ton of extremely annoying cyclists, I try hard to not be one.

Sounds quite unsafe. Maybe you shouldn't ride something that locks your feet in while going under 20 mph on your 10 lb bike feet away from half ton chunks of metal going twice your speed.

love the ones on hwy 22 in mandeville that have 6' of shoulder to ride on, but they are toeing the white line of the road.

You'd be surprised the debris on the road you can't see from your car. Closer to the white line is much cleaner. I still have a healthy respect to keep distance from the lane, but get as close as I feel comfortable. I've been taken down by shoulder debris at 25 MPH (pace line in the back so so couldn't see) and it didn't feel good.

in terms of cyclists getting in accidents that's there fault, statistics show that overwhelmingly drivers are at fault. So while I agree that running stop signs is annoying and I have seen other cyclist do things that piss me off. People need to realize how many drivers do awful things. Just this weekend a driver crossed the closed course at the Ironman world championships through the stop sign of a cop. Pro rider hit car at 27+ MPH and nearly died.

Everyone needs to be smart out there.

Cyclists really are douches. I'll wave to them while running through the neighborhood but very few wave back.

Duh... The only thing that brings pedestrians and those driving vehicles together, is their mutual hatred of spandex warrior cyclist.

Why do 90% of cyclist run stop signs?

I doubt that the majority of the people in the most desirable, economically vibrant, clean, and livable cities in this country have such a problem with this as people down here do. Its why people leave.

It happens everywhere. Just recently there was a charity ride in San Francisco where a guy in a truck purposefully ran over 4 cyclists. In liberal SF!

Im a cyclist and if there is no one in front of me I gauge the stop sign and if nothing is coming I run it. Now if there is traffic, I act like a car and get in line, I do not ride to the front and make everybody pass me again.

Was going to say, why not just knock the frick out of one of them. You know he won't get up and do anything about it because everyone knows all bikers are pansies.

I see this all the time. On the LSU campus is the worst place. The majority of people I see on bicycles totally ignore the stop signs. It is amazing there are not more injuries.

The rare times I ride on a road I try to make that decision based on what will help traffic the most and is safety doable. So if me and a car behind me have a stop sign and its safe for me to run it, I run it and get out the way so the whoever is behind me spends less time being annoyed by me... Again I try to avoid this whenever possible because I fricking hate having to encounter bikers on the road. I always try not to be THAT guy

San Fran has its share of crazies but, overall, you must admit its bike friendly. And embodies all the qualities I listed earlier.

When I'm driving, I let cyclists and runners/walkers go first so as not to break their strides.
