Then work to change the laws. Seems like the most obvious solution but for snowflakes, they’d rather just bitch about what they don’t like and expect others to cater to their preferences regardless of what the laws actually are.

You really think that’s regulated to cyclists? It’s a selfish trait not a cyclist trait or a driver trait.

Cutting in front of a 4,000 lb vehicle will not hurt the car much. It will totally destroy you.

I understand the angst, but if you want to ride for exercise there are better places than busy roads.

It’s unfortunate because of drivers who break the law (harassment, illegal passing etc) because they don’t like the laws but I do agree. That’s eXactly why I don’t do it a lot anymore..my life, my daughters father, my wife’s husband, my parents son is all in the hands of complete strangers trusted to abide by laws that too many of them don’t like, are angered by and choose not to follow.

Ask the car guys, they'll say the exact same stuff about cyclists.

Neither have much of a track record of playing well with others, but if I was on a vehicle that weighed several thousand pounds less than an automobile, I would definitely be the one who takes the most precautions.

Good. Keep convincing people to quit

The worst is when you have to pass the same cyclist between every stop sign on a street because right after you pass them and stop at a stop sign, they blow right through just for you to have to pass them again.

Happens about once a week to me on live oak in Metairie which is especially frustrating when right over the levee is a miles long bike lane with no stops at all

Some bastard cursed at me because I passed him once, then stopped ahead to take a picture from a pullout. He was training for the ironman, and probably roided up. Never got in his way, never blocked him from doing shite.

Of course he was too much of a pussy to stop though. I'd have loved to chat with him a few minutes.

So you admit you’re a douche cyclist who doesn’t obey the traffic laws that you crow give you all rights as a vehicle?

Wat?

I follow the rules of the road when I am on the bike.

I was just pointing out why folks roll stop signs if no cars are around.

It takes a lot of effort to get back up to speed from a full stop.

Carry on.

Not the same. There is no replacement for time in the saddle on a long ride outdoors.

Your statement is akin to telling a marathoner to “get a treadmill.”

Carry on.

Why don't we need to tell runners to get treadmills?

Because they aren't selfish little viruses that are always in the way.

This is the most Louisiana thread ever. I bet all the anti cyclists would adamantly oppose building bike lanes.

BR cyclists also seem to hate bike lanes

And how fricking painfully dumb must you be to claim physical superiority over anyone that has a problem with your bicycle, when no one has a problem with runners or weightlifters?

Why is it that the disgusting fatties only come after bikes?

Go down Government Street in BR. Did a road diet and now has a bike lane. Never see a bike on it. Dumbest fricking thing ever. The juice is never worth the squeeze. This isn’t Amsterdam. I laugh every time when people support bike lanes.

I don’t think anyone cares when they do it with no cars around, it’s when they blow right past cars stopping at a stop sign where it’s an issue

That’s government in a nut shell, because the only way they could get funding to fix the street is if they make a bike lane.

Same thing just happened on Severn in Metairie. High traffic area, that no one bikes on, so they take away a lane, add ridiculously large curbs that make turning difficult. Meanwhile, one street over would be perfect for a bike lane

Aww man, I missed the peak of another cycling thread. I need to set up notifications for these or something, they're my favorite

Good to see the usual fatties are here because they saw a cyclist in Denham Springs for the first time in 6 months

I am 100% for bike lanes, but also realize that maybe the best roads for bike lanes aren’t the most highly trafficked roads in town. Perhaps they should all be on less trafficked streets that run parallel to the main roads. Seems like something that both cyclists and drivers would agree on, but instead we keep square pegging into round holes
