It's really funny hearing from people that live in the BR suburbs talk about how corrupt the politicians are in BR and the Ascension parish president just got indicted for bribery.

BR is a shithole. Improve your life by leaving.

I cannot wait to get out.

there is no other decent size city in Louisiana that I would rather live in than Baton Rouge
I'm a native of Baton Rouge (born and raised) who's lived in NOLA.
If work opened up down there, I'd be back there to live in a heartbeat. That's what a rathole my hometown has become.

There's a battle in this city and the front line is around Florida/Government. Unfortunately the enemy has the mayor and a good chunk of the city council on their side. Because of that the front line isn't retreating north and the pockets of enemy territory south of that line are growing.
I disagree on this. It's the easy answer but not necessarily the correct answer.
Our biggest problems - traffic, educational system, and tax revenue - all stem from short sighted good ole boy local politicians who constantly marginalize new ideas for their retention of their power.

I agree that this is where many of BR's problems originated from, but I do think that the current mayor and her administration have been very bad for race relations in the city thus far.

You should communicate this to the new mayor,EBR Parish C.O.A., NBR elected "mob" etc.

Amen. Well said and I agree! I don't happen to live there any more but that is due to where my job took me nearly 30 years ago, but I do still love my home town and am proud of it.

Sure, and BR has some legitimate problems related to race that both sides identify. Still, those problems are substantially improved by improving the problems related to traffic, revenue, and education.

BR doesn't have a suburban feel in many areas. Nice area, nice neighborhoods..then down the street..trash/ghetto stuff. It's all mixed in pretty much everywhere. The Infrastructure is getting deplorable. It takes visiting other places to come to grips how bad it is.

Hope some of the simple minded folks do just this and get out to see a few other cities.

I like to think of it as an obstacle course that makes my commute more interesting.

When I was a kid, my parents lived in Sherwood Forest . I would jog the area till 10 pm or so. I'm 49 years old now, I wouldn't drive those streets at night now.

UPVOTE....well thought out

After I graduated LSU (born & raised in BR) I missed BR and thought so highly of it for about a year. Then after living in California and now Atlanta, I see remnants of what I thought was so great, and a current city that looks like it is rotting and falling apart.
