I watched the new trailer for Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice this morning and couldn’t help but immediately draw from its political undertones. I know—weird to immediately think of something political from a super hero movie trailer. Maybe its the heightened partisan environment we are currently in.

For some, this could probably ruin the entertainment factor of the upcoming movie, so read with caution.

I encourage you to watch the trailer before you read below: Trailer

Is Superman a Democrat? A quick eye test could raise questions.

-He’s reluctant to use force. Very dovish. Only uses forces when provoked and has to.
-He’s a member of the media.
-He’s very free speech, freedom of press, & interested in asking Bruce Wayne uncomfortable questions.
-He’s obviously pro immigrant, as he is one.
-He’s obviously pro taking in refugees, as he is one himself.
-He’s a metaphor for a big, overarching power, like say the government, that swoops in to save the day, something the masses rely on.
-He’s pro government, and believes in the rule of law, the theatre of government, as in the trailer he complies with the government inquiry and abides by the law, even though he really doesn’t have to.
-His war strategy is more like a drone attack, “uses the scalpel”, is about calculated special ops than say full scale ground invasion, when he clearly has the supernatural powers to mimic one.
-Optimistic about humanity, sees it as inherently good.

And Is Batman a Republican?

-He’s definitely in the top 1%.
-He believes that charity and philanthropy can solve the problems the government can’t.
-He is big business and a capitalist.
-He’s definitely pro gun. Loves the second amendment.
-Views Superman as an illegal alien, and possibly a terrorist.
-He’s a Nativist. Believes the foreigner is the root of the problem.
-Vigilante, loves taking the law into his own hands.
-He definitely thinks government is inept.
-Pessimistic about humanity, sees the rising tension underneath.
-War strategy is more about going on the offensive.

Yeah I know…

So does this mean the movie will be a large democrat undertone?
Since Batman, the Republican, is being played by one of the biggest democrats/Obama supporters in Hollywood?

Yeah Batman is actually very anti gun. OP isn't very bright and seems to have a very high opinion of his opinions. I honestly stopped reading after he referred to himself over and over again before making his "point". Interesting people don't do that, and he's not interesting.

Knew this would ruffle feathers....but watch the Trailer.

It's not a perfect thought, but definitely can see where they are taking the new movie.

And yes, Batman has used many guns. He may not like everyone else having them, but he's definitely all about having them himself, and having all his other shiny militaristic toys himself.

Be careful.....you won't be able to criticize the media as being "liberal," if you think that liberals are against free speech.

What does Hollywood not politicize? I am laughing currently at Brad Pitt's rich arse disparaging Wall Street rich asses due to his new movie "The Big Short".

Here ya go, I bolded every time you use a first person pronoun or imply one with a conjugated verb. You ramble about yourself a lot before you make anything close to a point. You have a very high opinion of yourself and very little to say. Have you considered becoming a political pundit?

Dude....You got something against the use of "I"? Is this a crime or something?

This is a website, a board where people go and voice/type opinions, and more importantly this is the O-T Lounge....where they craziest of the crazy is often said.

I see your Batman pic, must have irked you with notables about your comic hero...sorry

I wouldn't say what I wrote is an opinion, as much as it is an observation about the plot of the latest movie to be released...based on that movie's trailer.

And yes, I did say it would make ya cringe.

It didn't make me cringe, honestly I didn't read it. I thought you deserved to know why I didn't read it and that reason is because you seem to be an insufferably self-obsessed blow-hard. Figured I'd share that opinion.

I don't hate you. I even just liked your comment.

Thought this was interesting as well: Jesse Eisenberg's take on the theme, and intellectual and geopolitics in the movie Eisenberg aka Lex Luthor

It is also well noted that Terrio (the writer) has made the film grittier and with political themes.... This is a long blog that I actually just found AFTER my OP. Bat v Sup
