Water. No closer than 30 minutes to the race. No water during the race, either, although some jackass in here was trying to say to stop and drink at every mile

I can run about a 48 right now, my record is a 46 something. My wife is pretty fast, she can run about a 43 - 44.

I drink water with nuun tablets while running.


I always eat a protein bar for some prerace carbs. I can't go on an empty stomach.

Also, carb loading is bullshite. Eat what you eat during training, whatever your body is used to.

I eat a peanut butter on toast with some kind of fruit. 1hr 1/2 to 2 hrs before race

nothing hard to digest
