Some how somebody got my card info and charged 4k in Lyft rides over the last month. I’m wondering how this happened and why it was all to Lyft and not a ton of random places or Amazon. Smallest charges were $11.00 and largest was around $350.

Also there’s probably no way I’ll ever find out how or who I’m guessing.

I don’t know the answer. Today inwas dealing with CC fraud myself. $5200 in concert tickets+airline tickets+$2000 in storage rental
In Louisiana. Wonder if there was some huge breach. I wonder if yours was stolen by a Lyft driver and he is laundering the charges for cash (ie, a paycheck )??

Lyft should be able to pull the route data for whoever was using it, though likely it was multiple people. Get that data and then get into detective mode. Share it here, we want to have fun.

One of your Lyft drivers scammed your card and personal info then used your card to cover the rides while they “drove”.

My debit got lifted last month. It was easy to figure out how and where since I only used the card once in the past 6 months to get cash. Stand alone ATM, must have had a secondary scanner attached.

How do you have a charge without knowing about it? I can't think of a single account that I don't get instant notifications on.

Even if you don't get notifications, how do you go an entire month without glancing at your account? We have access on our phones 24/7.

Simple… see who the Lyft driver(s) are…more than likely it was easier to scheme cash off the card going through Lyft… probably just canceled the ride if one of the drivers they know didn’t get job

As you shouldn’t. It’s not your money that was stolen.

How did this go on for a month? Do you not pay attention to your credit?

Sounds like prostitution or door dash. Hopefully some transactions were recorded.

I never check my credit card balance. They send a paper statement in the mail and that’s what I pay off of.

I missed some charges on there on my March statement but it was only 2 or 3 for $50.00. They must have been testing the waters then started hammering me in April.

That’s crazy. If my balance is $1 over what it should be I’m checking transactions

It just so happens that one rider got that same driver like 50 times in a month?

This happened to me with Uber (I noticed right away) and they have no contact number so it took days of me losing my shite over email for them to finally close the account.

Chase reversed the charges but I also had PayPal hooked to the Uber account so it defaulted to that when Chase payments failed. Luckily, PayPal was incredibly nice with me and “broke” the connection to Uber from my account and it finally stopped happening. They also refunded me the money. Uber didn’t do shite. Never even spoke to a human.

The scammer goes into your account and changes your phone number so when you try to get they account shut down with Uber/Lyft and they try to authenticate who you are.. it fails because your account is now associated with a new number.
