I've always viewed this group as those who were physically gifted/well-put together who realized they lacked the intellect to pursue a real career. At a point, (for some) it evolves into preying on those craving attention/validation they see as missing from their marriage.
Not hating, but by and large, some of them really are tPOS.
ETA: not my ol lady
BUT, I have been witness to some relatively close experiences to see the truly seedy nature of it all. Some fricked up stuff......

I love when personal trainers get business cards and become life coaches. They are tons of fun to talk with and completely humble people.

Coworker of mine is also a physical trainer. He's intense, just loves to get results.
