So nothing in BR should change then since we know no one in the area listens?

We've got much bigger fish to fry in regards to BR traffic problems.

Like... How the new contra-flow still sucks balls.

On a less related note, I spent last week in DC. And for everyone that thinks hsitty traffic is somehow isolated to NOLA and BR, yall should try travelling. The traffic in MAryland made me want to blow my brains out, and a friend showing me around said it was normal.

The way people drive inner city in DC blew my mind. I felt unsafe walking in certain areas. It's nothing for them to whip around a roundabout going 50.

These crashes say more for lack of driving skills than for intersection layout.

Yea, I've driven through it about 10-15 times since it just became the stop sign with turns in any direction off Boyd. It isn't complicated. The lights at Jennifer Jean and Parker are synced to give those at the stop sign on Boyd time to cross.

Again not what I said. They did a terrible job of giving notice, timing, and directing those who are clearly incompetent. They should have done everything possible to inform those traveling through that area that this was happening. Whyy not put up large signs that say "Drivers on Burbank dont fricking stop"?

When they put up yellow flashing lights every single one of us knew drivers on burbank would come to a complete stop and treat it was a 4 way. Which created the illusion that it was in fact a 4 way when it wasnt.

All of these and more were point out in the threads and they did nothing to fix the situation but change shite at the intersection without notice. Its not that hard to put up signs, send out articles in the Reveille, emails to LSU students/faculty and the like about what to do there.

They need to put the light back and program it so that each direction of Boyd has a green light while the other three directions are faced with a red light. The biggest problem was people trying to turn left onto Burbank and only two or three cars making it through the intersection.

Smartest suggestion to date.

It really is astounding, and makes it that much funnier when people on here act like it is some unique phenomenon to south LA.

I didn't read the thread, but y'all know they took the "right turn only" signs down, right?

That only creates that illusion to people who have no clue. The only people that have no clue are the kind of people proper signage isn't going to help. So again, it seems we should never change anything here because drivers are too incompetent to follow the controls.

Ok so ignore the other parts where I gave suggestions on how to inform people of the change. It needed change like I said, they just went about it the wrong way. But please continue spouting your bullshite

Just like the exit ramp signs from I-10 East onto Westbound Essen & Bluebonnet that say DO NOT STOP...yet people stop.

I didn't ignore it. I said that won't help the kind of people that think a flashing yellow means stop.

Another thing to note about Siegen is that it has a center turn lane, so left turns are two-phase movements. Intersections that require you to cross all 5 lanes at once are signalized.

Look at the recent improvements that they did to Florida Blvd. Most of the intersections that required crossing 5 lanes with no signal control were terminated with a new median. The previous poster was absolutely correct in stating that crossing that many lanes at once without signal control is simply not safe. Just because it has been allowed in the past does not mean that it is correct.

It couldnt hurt at all. But simply making an overnight change at a heavily traveled area like that and expecting idiots to know what to do was piss poor planning.

Just because I say it is worse now than before doesnt mean there shouldnt have been a change. They just choose the one we all knew would be a disaster.

This happens on Facebook and IRL too. One of my biggest pet peeves.

Yeah, this is the only city in the entire world where people drive poorly

It's quite easy to obtain a license and a lot of people are distracted easily, air-headed, assholes, etc.

That would be 3 lights in about 850 feet.
There are no problems with that downtown. They just need to be interconnected.

That's just unnecessary.
Not if there is a serious safety issue. Crash data is the key criteria in a signal warrant.

Downtown is a grid of one way, 2 lane streets. This is four streets, all two way with three running parallel (and only one connecting through), one being 5 lane undivided, one being 2 lane divided, and two 2 lane undivided.

This happens everywhere in the country. But it's always baffling.
