Whether you stab me to death or shoot me to death, I'm still dead.

If the water is starting off at ambient temperature, it takes minutes (because the water takes that long to come to a boil).

If the water was already brought to a boil, it takes seconds.

I mean not how I would have handled it. If you're only eating two crabs, why not stab their brains with a pick or knife first. Boiling at least kills them a bit quicker given the water is all around them.

That's not what that site says. 4-5 minutes when placed in boiling water.

Take one that's been fully sumberged in boilng water back out after 30 to 60 seconds and see if it's still moving or breathing.

Didn't it address that suggesting what while there is no movement the sensing neurons are still firing?

Boiling water 212 F

Air fryer 350-400 F

Don’t worry that air fryer is knocking them out quick.

They stated that it takes 4 to 5 minutes, yes. They also stated that the crabs will shed their claws and limbs as a defense reaction. Now let's think about it.

The human brain can last 4 to 5 minutes without oxygen before irreversible damage occurs. I could link research showing that. But that's not while it's also being boiled. Crab bodies are far less dense, and crab brains are far smaller, so that 4 to 5 minutes in boiling water number seems implausible to me.

As for the separated limbs, if you have ever cleaned and sorted your own crabs before boiling them, you'd probably say that the vast majority of them still come out of the pot with limbs attached.

I was simply repeating what some websites said. I don't care either way, I'm boiling and eating them.

Is boiling them supposed to be more tolerable?
