If there is any type of restaurant that can take the hit, it's Mexican. By far the highest per capita restaurant in the region.

Yea I tried the one in BR several times, always over priced and never impressed with the food.

Mexican restaurants in LC seem to have high turnover. Some have stayed open for a while but the new ones that open cant seem to stay open for more than 10 years

RIP Pepper's

How is the Mexican scene in LC these days? El Dorado and El Tapatio on the east side were really good the last time I went to each.

LC has surprisingly poor options for Mexican. People there love El Tapatio but it's dog shite. Really the best place there is that little shithole taco store in the Exxon on Broad Street. Really good tacos.

This is what did them in here in Lafayette too. Nothing special about the food but costing roughly $20 / person for meal and drink was too much.

The one is Lafayette closed recently too. I wonder if this was a corporate decision regarding the region.

Never ate at the one in Lake Charles but the one here in Baton Rouge was really not very good. I think it started off ok but it really fell off towards the end there. Not surprised at all that it ended up closing.

There is a guy who runs a facebook page called Developing Lafayette. He covers new restaurants opening, pretty much has inside knowledge on stuff. Well he posted something that was hearsay, but could be true. A waitress at Olive Garden (next door to CB building) claimed that PF Changs was moving in. Take that with a grain of salt, but it could be true. He admits there is no evidence, and it's just a rumor. Maybe the waitress knows since they are next door... Who knows...

Went about a month ago. Food and service was horrible. Not surprised by this. Still trying to find out why Newk's closed though.

No indeed.

El Tapatio >>>> Casa Manana >>>> Coyote Blues.
