Would we like to compare the number of incidents I'm uptown vs downtown Covington now?

That's just it. Two completey different places. its like comparing Hazard County to Atlanta

Not saying it doesn't have its problems because it does but New Orleans is a little different than a decade ago.

Just like the lady in this article you sound like you miss the culture of New Orleans and are going stir crazy in Gods Country.

People always assume everyone on the NS is jealous. There are pros and cons to both sides of the lake. I don't know why it has to be such a silly argument.

I totally agree. But it makes for entertainment.

I'm gonna go hang a sign up in Harahan today.

ETA: My SO works in Harahan. If he happened upon your sign, I can guarantee he'd laugh. Zeros fricks would be given.

Some of you are sorely missing the real issue. It's not covington vs uptown or NS vs SS.

It's this stupid cow making such a big deal about being so offended over a silly sign on an off street in covington and also being so stupid for thinking anyone in Covington gives a frick about her offended state.

And she thinks the sign makes light of the crime problem? What the hell has she done to help with it? Probably zero.

You are exactly right. People think being offended and letting everyone know you are offended is some kind of civic involvement.

Because if anyone from New Orleans ever hears anything by anyone that New Orleans isn't the greatest place EVER they have issues with it.

It's a lot like Texas Pride. I'm gonna make bumper stickers that say "Don't Mess With NOLA".

I agree.

If he is telling the truth, the store owner quoted someone else who was complimenting Covington. If someone finds it offensive because it comes on the heels of another year where violent crimes in NOLA is on the ride I'm sure the owner would offer an apology by saying "I'm sorry you find it offensive".

Well, whatever floats their boat. I live on the NS. I don't love it. I'd live in NO if the schools weren't shite and the property values weren't retarded and it wasn't such a warzone in so many places. Am I bored here? Absolutely. But, I'm also comfortable and don't worry about my kids' safety. Maybe they could build an island neighborhood in the middle of the Lake so we could have the best of both worlds.

No, I'm not going stir crazy. When I want nola I drive a mere 45 minutes south, it's great. But, there is a calm and quiet over here that is appealing, more so than I expected. I can sit in my huge forested backyard sipping a great scotch and not hear cars or bus engines. There are also several great restaurants within a few minutes. I really love both nola and the Northshore.

Mandeville would be just like Bogalusa if it wasn't for New Orleans.

Exactly. She's looking for media attention and this is surprisingly her vehicle.

When I used to watch the news during the late 90's and 00's, they'd do stories on people protesting various things in nola and the crowd always had 10-15 of the same protesters in the front of it on tv no matter the issue. She looks like one of those.

I can be from my house in Mandeville to my mother in laws in Marrero in about an hour (cruise control set on 68 on the causeway) most of the time. I can be just about anywhere in the city in less time than that.

When I lived in NOLA I lived in Algiers, Harvey, Harahan, & Metairie and for the most part it takes 15-25 minutes to get most places anyway. Honestly, I don't feel like an extra 30 minutes for the events I do want to come in the city for are that much of a trade off for the things you mentioned that make the Northshore so enticing (schools, value, safety, etc).

Even back to some it's earliest history, Mandeville was an escape for people wanting to get out of New Orleans, but not be too far away. Steamboats would travel back and forth across the lake for people wanting to get away. The same exists today, but life is much easier to live now outside of NOLA and still work and be connected to the city in the ways you want.

Funny you mention that. A couple of years ago I had a dream that a chain of islands were built in the middle of the lake with a very Florida keys like flavor to them.
