A buddy of mine and his wife take turns every weekend. She gets Friday night out and he gets Saturday. They are in their 30's and still do The Bulldog, St.Joes, Le Bon Ton, The Columns etc.
I guess it works for them.
My parents went out a lot on weekends when I was growing up, but it was usually work functions, charity events, krewe functions, galas etc. Dad usually came home drunk, but I guess when it's a black tie event it's not trashy

We have a guy like you who's a charter member of our tailgate. Lives out of state, makes it in for two or three games a year. Never married. Never close, actually. Constantly barking about the tail he's slaying. We all get a good chuckle out of his bullshite.
Wait ... Paul???

I'm in my late 30s with no kids yet and even I couldn't imagine my husband and I going out every single weekend both Friday and Saturday nights.
Too old for all that. It's fun in moderation though.

Probably not, I do that from time to time.
But my point on the camps being the perfect place to get away from the family stands.

Only as old as you act. We have lazy weekends and going out weekends.
I get too bored just staying at home.

I'm not bragging about all the strange I slay, I'm just pointing out that being single as long as possible is the way to go if you have to run to the bar every weekend to get away from the kids.

These people wonder why Junior and Janette turn into juvenile delinquents.
Well naming them Junior and Janette is a pretty sure fire way as well.

It isn't just poors. I know quite a few parents who are in their 40's with young kids and they go out all the time-leave them with whoever they can find and sleep all day or even go out of town for a week or so and the kids bounce from friend to friend to maybe grandma. Some might spend the night 5 different places over a week - and this is while they are in school.
Shitty parents are shitty.

Well for us we both like doing outdoor activities on our weekends off (I go hiking or kayaking, he goes off mountain bike riding). Neither one of us wants to do those with hangovers(especially if we are driving a few hours out of town for the day to go play outside). If I have a full weekend off of work, I'm not just sitting at home the entire time I promise you that.
I'd rather hit up a happy hour and have drinks and dinner and be able to pass out around midnight so I can get up early the next day.

I'm almost to the point now that I loathe the thought of going out on the weekends unless it is for a specific reason. I have just lost interest in the late night bar scene.

Dear god - happy hour starts at 5. I've always been a happy hour guy and done by 8-9. Hell even in college I did that. I get up at 5am everyday and I can't stand to feel like shite from drinking.

If I'm not at home by 9 and in bed at 10 I'm usually in a bad mood.

I didn't say I got home at midnight, that I was asleep by then.
Remember.....I work nights. Going to bed around 11-12 at night is considered going to bed early in my book

Normally this ends up being a buddy of yours and his ex wife.
I don't know one relationship that has survived a committed "girls or boys night out" routine.

It all depends whether or not she runs into lsu480 at happy hour ..

How do you guys do it? Where do you guys get the stamina after working long week to go to a bar or event and stay out until 1am every single Friday?
i can see maybe once every few months doing this, but as a weekly lifestyle? Pretty selfish, and not good parenting. That's literally two nights of every week that you are incapable of being a responsible adult for a child in a possible emergency. When you have kids you have to grow up.

We don't go out every weekend, but my daughter's maw maws and paw paw always like to keep her if we have something to do.

Same. Having kids didn't hinder me in that regard whatsoever. Rather, it provided a bulletproof excuse to be very selective about my outings.

The kid was the time to definitely stop. We rarely went out regardless. Some people just need alcohol THAT badly.
