That’s about how much I was making in my lower 20s with a $900 a month rent and i managed it but was living paycheck to paycheck. If I would have had an emergency like my car breaking down I would have been screwed

Edit: my bad just noticed you said AFTER bills. That’s about how much I had before bills lol

Scruffy already does.

He doesn’t have kids, but he lives very, very comfortably with that income.

Pay is around $7700 a month before taxes... The $2300 is after all of the must pays. After I sell my house in South Georgia it should add around $1700 a month back in my pocket.

Our AMEX runs $8500 (lowest) to $12500 a month......so, no.

ETA: that does include various bills to take advantage of points.

Yeah, no problem. Even when maximizing mine and wife’s retirement account. I don’t have kids though, and work pays for my gas.

It would get hairy with children probably.

In Spokane you probably will have cheap electricity, but that being said, you probably will not have to use your AC for about 5 months out of the year.

You are kinda in the middle of nowhere....Seattle about 5 hours away on a good day. Boise about 3.

I am surprised that affordable good housing is not plentiful in that area

Spokane isn't necessarily cheap. Rental market is really tight and anything below $1500 a month is either a small apartment or a shitty house and I wanted to get into base housing because it's my last duty station and there are no deposits or fees and the utilities are included.

Have you ever lived in the middle of nowhere? My last three assignments have been just that and the locals know exactly how much our housing allowance is and adjust their rents accordingly... not a in a good way.
