This benefit does exist for employees at some companies – it’s called ‘menstrual leave’. It allows workers who experience painful menstrual or menopause symptoms options for remote work and a set number of paid-leave days every year, on top of federally mandated paid vacation or sick leave.
Menstrual leave has existed in various forms around the world for at least a century: the Soviet Union introduced a national policy in 1922, Japan in 1947 and Indonesia in 1948. But it’s still rare in many large global economies, including the US, where Jessie lives. Now, however, a movement endorsing it is growing, as more and more companies around the world are starting to introduce the benefit.
If widely introduced, women, transgender and non-binary workers who menstruate stand to gain: they would have direct pathways to rest when they need it most, be happier and more productive at work as a result and find it easier to remain in the labour market. Yet, since menstrual leave has entered the global zeitgeist, some of its critics have argued that the benefit is unfair, or that it could further stigmatise people with periods. Does menstrual leave help or hinder workers who struggle without the leave they feel they need?

Anyone get currently this perk at work?

We’d probably all be better off with annual leave for draining the balls.

It absolutely would change the workplace…..because men would have to do everything that women couldn’t do when they were taking their week of additional PTO for every 21 days that they work. Let that sink in…women could be off work nearly a quarter of the time.

Women will be claiming that long after they reach menopause.

Wouldn’t this just make managers want to hire less women?

I thought it would be much better to hire women since you only had to pay them 75% of the salary that I man would receive.

no because anyone who would look at ‘menstrual leave’ as an option in the workplace is more than likely a non-productive dead weight at the workplace anyway.

I work with all ladies, one week a month without the attitudes would be nice.

Modern times in the workforce are no different than in the past when it comes to men doing literally almost all the heavy lifting. The only change is that women are being promoted at the highest levels for in many cases half the amount of work. When you take in to consideration that they tend to miss more work for various reasons.

Shouldn't exist.

Just put everything under PTO and let workers decide how to use it.

Women. Women menstruate. Troons just have a poop wound and “non-binary” is just someone that needs attention
